About the role

EVERGREENERGY RESOURCES TRADING (M) SDN BHD is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Account Assistant/Accountant to join our finance team on a full-time basis. Based in Sungai Petani, Kedah, this role is fundamental to maintaining the financial health and compliance of our organisation. You will provide essential support to our accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial records and timely reporting. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop your accounting career within a growing organisation whilst contributing meaningfully to our financial management processes.

Key responsibilities

1. Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all financial records

2. Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, including invoice verification and payment processing

3. Prepare and reconcile bank statements and cash records on a regular basis

4. Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports in accordance with accounting standards

5. Support payroll processing activities and maintain employee records

6. Perform month-end and year-end closing procedures

7. Liaise with internal departments and external parties regarding financial queries and documentation

8. Maintain organised filing systems for financial documents and ensure compliance with data retention policies

9. Assist with audit activities and provide supporting documentation as required

10. Support the senior accounting team with ad hoc financial analysis and reporting tasks

What we're looking for

1. Qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline (SPM, Diploma, Degree or professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, ICAEW or similar)

2. 0-3 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping or a related finance role

3. Strong proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with accounting systems such as Sage, QuickBooks or similar platforms is advantageous

4. Solid understanding of fundamental accounting principles, including double-entry bookkeeping and the accounting cycle

5. Excellent numerical accuracy and strong attention to detail

6. Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively within a team

8. Proficiency in English and Bahasa Malaysia, both written and spoken

9. Organisational skills and a methodical approach to work

10. Professional and ethical approach to handling confidential financial information
