Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled and proactive MySQL Database Administrator to manage and maintain our database systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring database performance, security, reliability, and availability while supporting business-critical applications and operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, maintain, and monitor MySQL database servers.
• Manage database backup, restoration, replication, and disaster recovery processes.
• Monitor database performance and optimize queries, indexes, and configurations.
• Troubleshoot database-related issues and provide timely resolutions.
• Implement database security controls and manage user access privileges.
• Perform database upgrades, patching, and migration activities.
• Support application teams with database design, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
• Develop and maintain database documentation, standards, and procedures.
• Conduct database health checks and capacity planning activities.
• Ensure high availability and reliability of database environments.
• Collaborate with developers, system administrators, and project teams on database-related initiatives.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in MySQL Database Administration.
• Strong knowledge of MySQL database architecture and administration.
• Experience with database backup, recovery, replication, and performance tuning.
• Proficiency in SQL scripting and query optimization.
• Familiarity with Linux/Unix operating systems.
• Understanding of database security best practices.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with MariaDB, PostgreSQL, or other relational databases.
• Knowledge of cloud database platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Experience with database monitoring and automation tools.
• Understanding of high-availability and disaster recovery solutions.
• Knowledge of DevOps practices is an added advantage.
