Position Overview
The Production Planner is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating production activities to ensure timely delivery of customer orders while optimizing manpower, machine capacity, and material availability.
This role plays a key part in ensuring smooth production flow, minimizing delays, and aligning production output with customer demand and business targets in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Production Planning & Scheduling
- Develop and prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules based on customer orders and forecasts
- Ensure production plans are aligned with capacity, manpower, and material availability
- Monitor production progress and adjust schedules when necessary
- Prioritize urgent orders and manage production sequencing effectively
Coordination with Departments
- Work closely with Sales, Procurement, Warehouse, QA, and Production teams
- Ensure raw materials and components are available to support production plans
- Coordinate with Warehouse to ensure timely issuance of materials
- Communicate production requirements clearly to production supervisors
Material Planning & Inventory Control
- Monitor material requirements and coordinate with Procurement for timely supply
- Track inventory levels to avoid shortages or excess stock
- Support MRP/ERP system updates and planning accuracy
- Ensure proper planning for WIP (Work-In-Progress) and finished goods
Production Monitoring & Reporting
- Monitor daily production output against plan
- Identify production delays and work with relevant departments for resolution
- Prepare production reports, efficiency reports, and planning analysis
- Highlight risks affecting delivery schedules to management
Continuous Improvement
- Support initiatives to improve production efficiency and reduce lead time
- Identify bottlenecks in production flow and propose solutions
- Contribute to Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and process improvement activities
- Improve planning accuracy and forecasting methods
Job Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Manufacturing, or related field
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience in production planning or manufacturing environment
- Experience in automotive, electronics, or wire harness industry is an advantage
- Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and production planning tools
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Good communication and coordination skills
- Able to work under pressure and manage tight deadlines
