This foundation course introduces first-year students to the fundamentals of gameplay through paper prototyping. Students design and build physical, paper-based games to explore and test game mechanics, learning how rules, engagement loops, feedback systems and reward structures work together to create compelling play experiences. Through iterative prototyping, playtesting and peer and instructor feedback, students refine their designs and develop a solid understanding of what makes games work, laying the groundwork for digital game development in later courses.
