Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering or equivalent qualifications
Minimum 1-3 years of experience in construction project management, preferably in water/wastewater or environmental infrastructure projects
Valid driving license and willingness to travel to project sites
Skills & Requirements:
Strong understanding of sewage treatment processes, equipment, and construction methodologies
Knowledge of concrete construction, structural works, pipeline installation, and civil engineering practices
Familiarity with mechanical and electrical systems in wastewater treatment facilities
Understanding of Malaysian construction standards, CIDB regulations, and engineering codes of practice
Proficiency in project management software, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite
Knowledge of construction planning, scheduling, and resource management
Excellent leadership and team management capabilities for multi-disciplinary construction teams
Strong problem-solving abilities for resolving technical and logistical challenges
Effective communication skills in Bahasa Malaysia and English for stakeholder engagement
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in dynamic construction environments
Strong attention to detail for quality control and compliance monitoring
Familiarity with DOE guidelines, environmental compliance procedures, and regulatory approvals
Experience with sewage treatment plant construction, commissioning, or design-build projects is an advantage
Responsibilities
Job Summary:
The Site Project Engineer will be responsible for on-site management and coordination of design-build sewage treatment plant construction projects. This role involves overseeing civil, mechanical, and electrical works while ensuring compliance with design specifications, quality standards, environmental regulations, and safety requirements throughout the construction and commissioning phases.
Key Responsibilities
Project Coordination & Management
Oversee day-to-day construction activities for sewage treatment plants, pumping stations, and sewerage reticulation systems
Coordinate between design teams, contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure project delivery
Monitor project progress against schedules and implement corrective measures when required
Conduct regular site meetings and prepare progress reports for management
Ensure seamless integration of civil, mechanical, and electrical works
Technical Supervision & Quality Control
Review and approve construction drawings, method statements, and material submittals
Supervise concrete works, including treatment tanks, pump chambers, manholes, and structural elements
Oversee pipeline installation, earthworks, and civil construction activities
Monitor installation of mechanical equipment (pumps, blowers, mixers) and electrical control systems
Conduct quality inspections and ensure compliance with design specifications and Malaysian standards
Compliance & Safety Management
Ensure compliance with Department of Environment standards, local authority regulations, and project specifications
Implement and monitor health and safety procedures in accordance with DOSH regulations and company policies
Coordinate with regulatory bodies for inspections, approvals, and compliance certifications
Manage environmental compliance, including waste disposal, noise control, and water quality protection
Ensure adherence to CIDB requirements and construction best practices
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain comprehensive project records, including daily reports, progress photos, and quality documentation
Prepare and submit progress reports, variation orders, and technical reports
Coordinate with quantity surveyors for measurement and valuation activities
Manage project documentation, including as-built drawings, test certificates, and commissioning records
Support handover processes and warranty documentation
Stakeholder Management
Liaise with clients, consultants, local authorities, and regulatory bodies
Coordinate with design teams to resolve technical issues and implement design changes
Manage relationships with contractors and suppliers to ensure project success
Communicate project status and technical matters to management and stakeholders
