Role Description The PhD Student in Chemical Engineering is a full-time, on-site role based at Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus in Kuching. The role involves designing and conducting original research in chemical engineering, including literature reviews, experimental work, data collection, and analysis. The candidate will collaborate with supervisors and research teams, contribute to publications and conference presentations, and participate in research seminars and group meetings. Day-to-day activities include laboratory work, documentation of methodologies and results, and maintaining research records in line with safety and ethical standards. The PhD student is also expected to support teaching or mentoring activities when required, and engage in academic and industry networking relevant to their resea

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in chemical engineering or a closely related discipline, with a completed master’s or high-achieving bachelor’s degree.
  • Demonstrated research capabilities, including literature review, experimental design, data analysis, and scientific writing.
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to present research findings, write reports and manuscripts, and collaborate within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time and project milestones, and maintain rigorous documentation and safety practices in the laboratory.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
