Role Summary
We are looking for an experienced Senior Embedded Software Engineer to lead the design and development of embedded software for our next-generation IoT and automotive connectivity solutions.
In this role, you'll architect embedded systems, solve complex technical challenges, mentor engineers, and collaborate closely with Product Management, Hardware, Test Engineering, and Field Application Engineering teams throughout the complete product development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop embedded software solutions on Linux and RTOS platforms using C/C++.
- Architect scalable, maintainable, and high-performance embedded software systems.
- Lead software development from architecture and implementation through testing, integration, deployment, and maintenance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to transform business requirements into technical solutions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex software and system-level issues involving embedded Linux, networking, modem software, and hardware interfaces.
- Perform code reviews, establish software engineering best practices, and continuously improve software quality.
- Mentor junior engineers through technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and code reviews.
- Evaluate new technologies and contribute to software architecture, technical roadmap planning, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Minimum 7 years of embedded software development experience. Strong proficiency in Embedded Software Programming and Embedded Software development for real-time, resource-constrained systems.
- Hands-on experience with Software Development lifecycles, including coding, integration, and testing for embedded platforms.
- Strong debugging, troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
- Solid understanding of Software Design principles, including modular architecture, interfaces, and maintainable code structures.
- Experience with C/C++ for embedded systems, Embedded Linux and/or RTOS or bare-metal development, and common communication protocols (e.g., UART, SPI, I2C, CAN).
- Experience developing embedded software, including: (1) Linux user-space applications, (2) Linux kernel development, (3) Device drivers, (4) Multi-threading, (5) Inter-Process Communication (IPC)
- Strong understanding of networking protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, HTTP/HTTPS, MQTT and SSL/TLS.
- Proven experience designing embedded software architecture and delivering products from concept to production.
- Background in wireless, cellular, automotive, or IoT products, including familiarity with security and regulatory requirements, is highly beneficial.
- Ability to work on-site in Ayer Itam Penang,Malaysia, collaborate in cross-functional teams, communicate clearly, and mentor less experienced engineers.
- Familiarity with version control systems, continuous integration, and documentation best practices.
Pay: RM7,000.00 - RM10,000.00 per month
