IT Systems & Support Specialist

Melaka, Malaysia | Full-time or Part-time | RM4,500–RM6,000 per month (full-time equivalent, depending on experience)

About us

We are a growing healthcare business operating a group of general practices in Malaysia and Australia. We are seeking a capable, practical and service-oriented IT Systems & Support Specialist to support our medical practices in Malaysia and assist our Australian IT Manager with IT systems, servers, networks and security processes across the wider group.

This is an excellent opportunity for an all-round IT professional who enjoys hands-on technical work, solving problems, supporting users and taking responsibility for keeping business systems running smoothly.

The role also offers exposure to website administration, email systems and online advertising, making it well suited to someone with a broad range of IT and digital skills.

We are open to employing the right person on either a full-time or part-time basis, depending on their experience, availability and ability to meet the needs of the business.

About the role

You will provide day-to-day IT support to our Malaysian medical practices, assist with the management of computer hardware, servers and networks, and work remotely with our Australian IT Manager to support systems and security processes across our Australian operations.

You will be expected to resolve routine issues independently, maintain accurate IT records and documentation, identify potential problems and escalate more complex technical matters when required.

In addition to core IT responsibilities, you will assist with website maintenance, business email administration and online advertising activities.

Key responsibilities

IT support and systems administration

· Provide technical support to staff across our Malaysian medical practices.

· Troubleshoot computer, printer, software, email and connectivity issues.

· Set up and configure computers, laptops, printers, peripherals and other IT equipment.

· Manage user accounts, access permissions, software installations and routine system updates.

· Assist with Microsoft 365 and other business applications, where applicable.

· Maintain IT asset registers, software records, licences and technical documentation.

Server administration and support

· Assist with the administration, maintenance and troubleshooting of servers across the group, working closely with the Australian IT Manager.

· Support server-based services, including user authentication, file sharing, access permissions and business applications.

· Monitor server performance, storage capacity, system logs and backup status, and investigate or escalate issues promptly.

· Carry out scheduled server updates, security patches and routine maintenance, coordinating work to minimise disruption to practice operations.

· Assist with backup management, recovery testing and disaster recovery procedures.

· Maintain documentation of server configurations, maintenance activities and troubleshooting procedures.

· Liaise with external IT providers and software vendors to resolve server and application issues when specialist assistance is required.

Networks and cybersecurity

· Assist with the maintenance and troubleshooting of networks, routers, switches, Wi-Fi and internet connections.

· Support the Australian IT Manager with network monitoring and security processes across multiple sites.

· Assist with endpoint protection, antivirus, patching, access controls, backups and routine security checks.

· Follow established cybersecurity and confidentiality procedures, including the secure handling of patient and business information.

· Promptly report suspected security incidents and help address identified vulnerabilities.

· Help maintain reliable, secure and well-documented IT systems across the Group.

Hardware and supplier management

· Coordinate the purchase, installation, maintenance and replacement of IT hardware.

· Maintain an inventory of computers, servers, printers, networking equipment and other IT assets.

· Liaise with hardware suppliers, internet providers, software vendors and external IT service providers.

· Monitor equipment issues, warranties, repair requirements and replacement planning.

· Assist with IT equipment deployment and setup at existing or new practice locations.

Website, email and digital support

· Maintain and update company websites, including routine content changes and troubleshooting.

· Assist with domain names, website hosting, email accounts and related technical administration.

· Help maintain business listings and online presence.

· Assist with Google Ads, social media advertising and other digital marketing administration.

· Liaise with external website developers, marketing providers and other suppliers when specialist assistance is required.

Support for Australian operations

· Work closely with the Australian IT Manager to assist with routine technical support, server administration and system maintenance.

· Carry out assigned troubleshooting, maintenance and security tasks remotely.

· Maintain clear records of work completed, outstanding issues and any risks identified.

· Communicate effectively with staff and management in both Malaysia and Australia.

About you

We are looking for someone with a broad practical understanding of IT who is comfortable working across several areas rather than specialising in only one.

You will ideally have:

· Experience in IT support, systems administration or a similar technical role.

· Good working knowledge of Windows computers, hardware, printers and business software.

· Working knowledge of server administration and support, particularly Windows Server, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP and file permissions.

· Practical experience troubleshooting networks, Wi-Fi, internet connectivity and user-access issues.

· Familiarity with Microsoft 365, email administration and user account management.

· An understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals, backups, endpoint protection and software updates.

· Experience maintaining websites, domains or hosting accounts, or the ability to learn these tasks quickly.

· Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple requests across different locations.

· Clear communication skills and a helpful, professional approach to supporting staff.

· The ability to work independently on routine tasks while knowing when to seek assistance.

· Good English language skills sufficient to communicate with our Australian staff and document technical work.

Experience supporting healthcare businesses, medical practices or other multi-site organisations would be an advantage.

Relevant IT qualifications or certifications are desirable, but practical ability, initiative and a willingness to learn are equally important.

What we offer

· The opportunity to work with an established healthcare group operating in Malaysia and Australia.

· A varied role covering IT support, hardware, networking, systems administration and digital services.

· Direct collaboration with an experienced Australian IT Manager.

· Exposure to multi-site IT operations and cybersecurity practices.

· A supportive working environment with opportunities to develop your technical skills.

· Flexibility to consider either full-time or part-time employment.

· Salary commensurate with experience, capability and agreed working hours.

Employment arrangements

We are open to considering:

Full-time: For a candidate seeking a broader role with responsibility for ongoing IT support across the Malaysian practices and regular assistance to Australian operations.

Part-time: For a suitably experienced candidate who can provide reliable support, complete agreed tasks and meet the operational requirements within an agreed weekly schedule.

Please indicate your preferred employment arrangement and availability when applying.

How to apply

Please submit your CV and a brief covering letter outlining your relevant IT experience, particularly in hardware support, networking, systems administration, cybersecurity and website or email maintenance.

Please also indicate whether you are seeking full-time or part-time employment and your expected monthly salary.

We look forward to hearing from practical, reliable candidates who enjoy solving problems and helping a business operate effectively through good IT support.
