HIRING: CASTING & WELDING ENGINEER – LEAD-ACID BATTERY MANUFACTURING

MYFutureJobs Negeri Sembilan is assisting an employer in the battery manufacturing industry to recruit a Casting & Welding Engineer for its operations in Nilai.

Location: Nilai, Negeri Sembilan

Salary: RM7,000 per month

Key Responsibilities

• Review and approve CAD models and engineering drawings for battery Cast-On-Strap (COS) moulds, cooling channels and venting structures.

• Optimize mould tolerances and tooling geometry based on lead-alloy thermal expansion and solidification shrinkage.

• Oversee COS mould and terminal welding fixture trials, assessing strap formation, lug fusion and assembly alignment.

• Inspect trial samples, investigate casting and welding defects, and prepare mould acceptance reports.

• Optimize molten lead processing temperatures, mould cooling and cycle times.

• Lead DFMEA and root-cause investigations involving tooling wear, equipment settings and alloy quality.

• Develop testing protocols for weld strength, strap retention, electrical performance and corrosion resistance.

• Maintain technical documentation and bilingual English/Mandarin trial histories.

• Coordinate tooling improvements, spare parts planning and technical transfers with China HQ, local production teams and tooling vendors.

Relevant Technical Expertise

• Lead-acid battery COS processes, lead-alloy casting and terminal welding.

• UG/Unigraphics and AutoCAD for tooling design review.

• Mould trials, dimensional inspection, thermal control and defect analysis.

• DFMEA, design for manufacturability and tooling maintenance.
