Job Description
Responsibilities
Scope of Position:
Responsible for conducting regulatory research, impact assessment and compliance preparation to support the entry of products into new countries. The role focuses exclusively on the pre-entry phase — end-to-end identifying local regulatory requirements, mapping business impacts, defining clear project milestones, import restrictions, documentation needs, and product compliance standards. Once the market is established and stabilized, all regulatory responsibilities are handed over to the operations team. This role requires finding solutions from scratch—proactively identifying requirements, assessing business risks, addressing gaps, drive stakeholder alignment, and ensuring the product can be successfully brought into the country without constant handholding.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
o Conduct detailed, comprehensive and complete research on import regulations, product compliance, labelling, and packaging laws for new countries.
o Identify restricted or prohibited items, required certifications, language and localization requirements, and other entry conditions.
o Support HS code mapping and initial customs requirement identification for each product category.
o Perform thorough impact and gap assessments, explicitly map out all the requirements, highlight the impacted items/SKUs, recommend necessary business actions, and flag potential operational bottlenecks.
o Establish clear timelines, project scope, and regulatory milestones for market entry deliverables.
o Manage local or external consultants proactively: gather localized regulatory insights, frame outcome-driven queries, ensure all aligned questions are fully addressed, and eliminate redundant back and forth.
o Compile regulatory summaries, product entry checklists, and documentation guides for each new market.
o Produce clean, executive-ready presentation slides and reports that present complete requirements clearly—without making unsupported assumptions.
o Evaluate and validate inputs from external consultants, ensuring accuracy and relevance.
o Support review and validation of technical documents such as SDS, COA and DoC.
o Identify documentation gaps and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve them before the first import.
o It is not necessary to know every regulation in advance, but need to demonstrate strong ownership and speed: proactively drive issue resolution, track deliverables to completion without needing frequent management reminders.
o Once the country is established and operations are stable, prepare and execute a complete handover to the product compliance team.
o Ensure all regulatory files, summaries, and contacts are transferred smoothly to support long-term management.
o Build and maintain a regulatory reference database for each country entered.
o Track changes to regulations that may impact new market planning or first shipments.
