About the role

We are seeking a Senior Executive Commercial to join Austin Powder Malaysia Sdn Bhd (formerly known as Tenaga Kimia Sdn Bhd). This is a full-time position based in Ipoh, Perak, offering a strategic opportunity to drive commercial excellence and legal compliance across our operations.

As Senior Executive Commercial, you will be responsible for providing expert corporate and commercial legal guidance to support the growth and operational objectives of the organisation. This role is pivotal in ensuring that our business decisions are underpinned by sound commercial law principles and regulatory compliance. You will work at a senior level, providing pragmatic, commercially focused advice to senior stakeholders and operational teams across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Providing comprehensive corporate and commercial legal services to support the strategic initiatives and operational requirements of Austin Powder Malaysia

• Drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements, contracts and legal instruments to protect the organisation's interests

• Advising on regulatory compliance matters, ensuring the business operates in accordance with applicable legislation and regulations in Malaysia

• Supporting merger, acquisition and corporate structuring activities through legal analysis and documentation

• Managing commercial disputes and working with external legal counsel where necessary

• Developing and maintaining commercial legal templates, policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency

• Providing legal guidance on risk management and mitigation strategies

• Collaborating with internal stakeholders including senior management, finance, operations and procurement teams to provide timely and commercially astute legal advice

• Mentoring and supporting junior legal staff where applicable

What we're looking for

• Admission as an advocate and solicitor in Malaysia or equivalent legal qualification

• Minimum 8+ years' post-qualification experience in corporate and commercial law

• Substantial experience gained within a reputable commercial law firm or in-house legal team of a large or complex organisation

• Proven expertise in commercial contracting, corporate structuring, mergers and acquisitions and regulatory compliance

• Strong understanding of Malaysian corporate and commercial law frameworks

• Excellent ability to provide pragmatic, commercially focused legal advice that is understood and trusted by stakeholders

• Proven capability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities in a collaborative team environment

• Strong negotiation and dispute resolution skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia is advantageous

• Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously and meet demanding deadlines
