In 1968, a group of enthusiastic golfers, mainly government servants got together and successfully convinced the State Government to allocate a piece of land to build an 18 hole golf course and a clubhouse which should also serve as a common recreational point for senior government servants, professionals, expatriates and businessman. Known as Johor Golf & Country Club, this Club was designed by Dato' Ahmad Adam, the then Director of Jabatan Kerja Raya (Public Works Department) Johor.
With a one for one support from the State Government, the Club embarked on an extension programme with the construction of a golfer's lounge, tasek lounge, banquet hall, tennis courts, squash courts, billiard, gym, a multi purpose hall and changing room.
