About M Hill Hotel

M Hill Hotel is the newest and most ambitious project by M Boutique Hotel Collective - a homegrown hospitality brand recognised for its design-led spaces, strong brand identity, and creative approach to hospitality.

Scheduled to open in the 1st Quarter of 2027, M Hill Hotel represents our first serious and modern hotel concept - a defining step forward for the brand and for the hospitality landscape of Ipoh.

The hotel will feature 270 Deluxe Rooms and full-service banqueting facilities with a capacity of up to 500 persons, positioning it as one of the key event and corporate hospitality venues in the city.

Built with intention, personality, and contemporary sophistication, M Hill will set a new benchmark for urban hospitality in the region.

This is not a routine hotel opening.
This is culture-building at scale.

The Role

We are seeking a strategic and people-driven Human Resource Manager to lead the HR function for M Hill Hotel from pre-opening through full operations.

Reporting directly to the Hotel Manager, this role will not only oversee all Human Resource functions at M Hill Hotel but will also overlook and provide strategic direction to all HR Departments under the M Boutique Hotel Collective.

This is a group-level leadership role requiring both operational depth and strategic oversight.

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Opening Leadership (M Hill Hotel)

  • Develop the hotel’s manpower plan and organisational structure
  • Lead recruitment strategy and talent acquisition across all departments
  • Design onboarding programmes aligned with brand culture
  • Establish HR policies, SOPs, and employee handbook
  • Implement payroll, HRIS, and performance management systems

Group HR Oversight (M Boutique Hotel Collective)

  • Provide leadership and guidance to HR teams across all properties under the Collective
  • Standardise HR policies, compliance frameworks, and best practices across the group
  • Align manpower planning with long-term business expansion goals
  • Drive group-wide training and talent development initiatives
  • Establish succession planning and leadership pipelines
  • Ensure consistency in culture, engagement, and performance standards across properties

Talent & Culture Development

  • Build a positive, performance-driven workplace culture
  • Drive employee engagement and retention strategies
  • Develop structured training and upskilling programmes
  • Support leadership development across departments and properties
  • Champion diversity, inclusion, and workplace wellbeing

Compliance & Administration

  • Ensure compliance with Malaysian labour laws and statutory requirements across all properties
  • Oversee disciplinary procedures and employee relations
  • Manage compensation & benefits structures at both property and group levels
  • Maintain accurate HR reporting and workforce analytics

Who We’re Looking For

We are not seeking a transactional HR administrator.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Sees HR as a strategic pillar of business growth
  • Is confident managing both property-level operations and group-level oversight
  • Challenges outdated hospitality workforce norms
  • Is resourceful, decisive, and solutions-driven
  • Builds strong teams with energy and positivity
  • Has the maturity to advise senior leadership while remaining approachable to line staff
  • Thrives in pre-opening and multi-property environments

This role requires a culture architect - someone who understands that people strategy is business strategy.

Requirements

  • Malaysian citizen (this position is open to Malaysians only)
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive HR leadership experience, preferably experience in a 4/5-star hotel
  • Strong experience managing up to *************+ employees including outsourced manpower
  • Proven experience in mass recruitment, supervisory/management recruitment, employee engagement, workforce planning, and performance management
  • Strong background in hotel orientation, departmental training, service culture, and compliance training
  • Good knowledge of payroll, HRIS, attendance, leave administration, and proficient in Microsoft Office and HR/payroll systems
  • Multi-property or group-level HR experience is highly advantageous
  • Pre-opening experience is strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Malaysian labour laws and statutory requirements
  • Fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia; Mandarin is an added advantage
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality, mature, approachable, firm but fair, well-organised, discreet, and able to perform effectively in a fast paced pre opening environment

Why Join Us
