Responsibilities
About the role
Responsible for managing, supervising and coordinating civil and building maintenance activities to ensure the facility remains safe, functional, compliant and well maintained. The Civil Engineer will oversee preventive and corrective maintenance, inspect building conditions, coordinate contractors and technicians, investigate defects, prepare technical reports and ensure maintenance works are completed according to required standards, quality and safety requirements.
Key responsibilities
Plan and monitor Preventive Planned Maintenance (PPM) activities for civil and building components.
Inspect and monitor the condition of building structures, roofs and waterproofing systems, walls, ceilings and floors, doors, windows and façade, drainage systems, toilets and sanitary areas, roads, pavements and external areas, car parks and related facilities.
Identify building defects such as water leakage, cracks, concrete deterioration, dampness, corrosion, settlement and structural/building defects and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
Prepare technical reports, inspection reports, defect reports and recommendations for repair or rectification works.
Supervise and monitor corrective and breakdown maintenance to ensure works are completed safely, properly and within the required timeframe.
Prepare scope of work, specifications, material requirements and Bill of Quantities (BQ) where required.
Coordinate and supervise external contractors, suppliers and maintenance personnel.
Verify the quality of completed works and ensure contractors comply with approved specifications, method statements and project requirements.
Conduct regular building condition inspections and identify potential maintenance issues before they become major defects.
Ensure all maintenance activities comply with applicable safety, quality, environmental and statutory requirements.
About you
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering / Civil & Structural Engineering
3–5 years of experience in building maintenance, facilities management, property management, construction or related civil engineering works.
Good knowledge of civil/building defects, repair methods and construction materials.
Able to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
Knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
Experience in contractor supervision and maintenance coordination.
Good communication, reporting and problem-solving skills.
Able to work independently and manage multiple maintenance activities.
Willing to attend emergency breakdowns or after-hours work when required.
Registered Graduate Engineer with BEM (preferred).
