About the Opportunity
On behalf of our client, an established company operating within the property development and construction sector in Miri, Sarawak, RIHGA is currently seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor / Senior Contract Executive to join their team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing contractual and cost-related aspects of development and construction projects, ensuring compliance with legal and technical standards while supporting successful project delivery within budget and timeline.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning and management of contract administration functions to ensure timely execution and compliance throughout project lifecycles.
- Review and interpret tender documents and contracts to ensure alignment with legal requirements and technical specifications.
- Supervise the preparation of contract-related documentation, including Letters of Acceptance, Instructions to Tenderers, Forms of Tender, Agreements, Conditions of Contract, Specifications and Bills of Quantities (BQ).
- Conduct regular site inspections and work-in-progress reviews to verify contractor and subcontractor claims.
- Ensure workmanship and materials comply with specified standards.
- Work closely with consultants, project teams and business unit heads to evaluate and validate claims, variations and progress payments.
- Prepare and present progress reports and contractual analysis for management review and decision-making.
- Support procurement and cost-control strategies through construction estimating and budget management.
- Act as a key negotiator in contractual discussions and dispute resolution to achieve favourable commercial outcomes for the company.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in Quantity Surveying or Contract Management within the building construction industry.
- Proven track record in contract review, administration and negotiation.
- Strong understanding of construction estimating and cost-control practices would be an advantage.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, consultative and problem-solving abilities.
- High attention to detail with a proactive and results-driven approach.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with standard forms of construction contracts such as PAM, JKR and FIDIC.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and contract management software/tools.
- Ability to work independently and lead a team within a fast-paced environment.
Pay: RM4,000.00 - RM6,000.00 per month
