About the Opportunity
On behalf of our client, an established company operating within the property development and construction sector, RIHGA is currently seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor / Contract Manager to be based in Sri Aman, Sarawak.
The successful candidate will take ownership of tendering, contract administration, cost control, progress claims and commercial matters throughout the project lifecycle, working closely with management, consultants, contractors and project teams to ensure projects are delivered within budget, timeline and contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full spectrum of pre-contract and post-contract activities for development projects.
- Lead and coordinate tender preparation, tender evaluation, cost analysis, negotiation and contract award.
- Review tender documents, drawings, specifications and contractual requirements.
- Prepare and review Bills of Quantities (BQ), Letters of Award/Acceptance, tender documents, contracts and related commercial documentation.
- Evaluate and verify contractor/subcontractor progress claims, Variation Orders (VO), payment claims and final accounts.
- Monitor project budgets, construction costs and cash flow, and highlight potential cost overruns.
- Conduct regular site inspections and work-progress verification before certification of claims.
- Manage contractual matters including variations, claims, Extension of Time (EOT) and commercial disputes where applicable.
- Liaise closely with consultants, contractors, subcontractors, project teams and management on contractual and cost-related matters.
- Support procurement activities, construction estimating and cost-control strategies.
- Prepare regular cost reports, contract status reports and project commercial updates for management.
- Ensure proper contractual documentation and compliance with agreed terms, technical specifications and company requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in Quantity Surveying, Contracts or Commercial Management within property development / building construction.
- Strong hands-on experience in tendering, BQ, progress claims, VO, cost control and contract administration.
- Candidates from property developers, main contractors or established construction companies are highly preferred.
- Familiarity with standard construction contracts such as PAM, JKR and/or FIDIC will be an advantage.
- Strong negotiation, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Able to work independently and manage contractual matters with minimal supervision.
- Good communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Must be willing to go outstation to Sri Aman, Sarawak.
- Candidates who can join within a short notice period will be highly preferred
Pay: RM5,000.00 - RM7,000.00 per month
