Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Materials Science or a related field. 
  • Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Candidates with 1–2 years of relevant industrial or laboratory experience in polymers, adhesives, plastics, extrusion, coating, lamination or related fields will be an advantage. 
  • Basic understanding of chemistry, polymer materials and material properties. 
  • Interest in developing practical knowledge of polymer materials, adhesives, extrusion and lamination processes
  • Basic laboratory testing and experimental skills. 
  • Good analytical and problem-solving ability. 
  • Able to collect, organise and interpret technical data. 
  • Good attention to detail and accuracy in laboratory work and documentation. 
  • Willing to work hands-on in both laboratory and production environments. 
  • Willing to learn new materials, technologies and manufacturing processes. 
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal. 
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks while working effectively within a team. 
  • Good command of written and spoken English. 
  • Knowledge of relevant chemical safety procedures and regulatory requirements will be an advantage. 
  • Demonstrated interest in continuous improvement and technical development.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

This role entails developing and optimizing polymer formulations, conducting cutting-edge research, and ensuring the quality and performance of polymer products. The Chemical Engineer will collaborate with various departments to provide technical support and ensure that all polymer materials meet the highest standards of quality and regulatory compliance. The position requires excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to stay abreast of advancements in polymer science and technology.

  

Roles and Responsibilities

Testing and Data Analyst

  • Perform analysis and testing of polymer materials to ensure they meet the required specifications and regulatory standards.
  • Improved productivity data collection and management.
  • Exploratory and investigative data analysis.
  • Statistical analysis and interpretation reporting.
  • Providing performance insights and recommendations.

Research and Development

  • Develop, test, and optimize polymer formulations for adhesives, plastic extrusion, and other applications.
  • Conduct research and development to innovate new polymer products and improve existing ones.
  • Stay current with advancements in polymer science and technology to ensure the company remains competitive in the market.

Product Innovation, Research and Development

  • Conducting experiments and analyzing data related to adhesive performance and material properties.
  • Working on process optimization for dry lamination and extrusion lamination processes.
  • Managing technical documentation and reporting findings to the manager.
  • Assisting with troubleshooting customer complaints and NCRs related to product quality.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in chemical engineering.
  • Generate ideas for continuous improvement and innovation in product development.

Supplier Collaborations

  • Identify, evaluate, and collaborate with potential suppliers of adhesives and polymer materials to ensure quality and performance standards are met.
  • Collaborate with the procurement team to negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers, ensuring cost-effectiveness and reliability.

Provide Assistance and Technical Support

  • Provide technical support and expertise in polymer chemistry to other departments, including production, quality control, and sales.

Ensure Comprehensive Understanding of Safety and Chemical Hazard Management

  • Reviewing and improving existing safety procedures related to chemical handling, storage, and disposal.
  • Conducting thorough assessments of chemical hazards in our operations and recommending mitigation measures.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement safety enhancements and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Performing regular audits and inspections to identify potential safety risks and areas for improvement.
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of safety standards and regulations relevant to the chemical industry.

Troubleshooting for Product or Process Abnormalities

  • Responsible for identifying and resolving root causes when product or process do not meet standard quality expectations.
  • Develop and implement corrective actions to resolve the abnormalities, ensuring adherence to quality and productivity standards.

Retain and Document Maintenance

  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of research, development, and testing activities.
  • And the task assigned from time to time.
