Job Summary/Objective:
The Project Supervisor is responsible for the technical execution, on-site safety, and successful commissioning of Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations across residential, commercial, and public locations. Acting as the primary technical lead on-site, this role involves managing sub-contractors, ensuring strict adherence to Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) electrical standards, and bridging the gap between design blueprints and physical installation. The goal is to deliver high-performance AC and DC charging solutions safely, on schedule, and in full compliance with Malaysian regulatory frameworks.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. On-Site Technical Supervision
- Supervise the physical installation of EV chargers, including cable laying, trenching, and mounting, ensuring work matches the Approved Construction Drawings (ACD).
- Ensure all electrical works comply with the Malaysian Standard (MS IEC 60364) and Energy Commission requirements.
- Chargeman Liaison- If not a Chargeman themselves, the Supervisor must work closely with one to certify PW4/Charge man for the switchboard (DB/MSB) upgrades and safety protection settings.
2. Testing & Commissioning
- Functional Testing by conducting final power-on tests, verifying load balancing and earthing resistance values.
- Verify that the charger communicates correctly with the company’s backend software (EI Charge apps) via 4G/Wi-Fi.
- Lead the final walkthrough with the client or site owner to demonstrate functionality and safety features.
3. Regulatory & Safety Management
- Implement NIOSH, CIDB and Client safety standards on-site. This includes managing "Permit to Work" (PTW) for high-risk areas like Condominium basement.
- Assist the Project Coordinator in verifying that site-specific permits from local councils (PBT) and TNB are active before breaking ground.
- Quality Audits thru conducting regular site inspections to prevent "substandard material and workmanship" that could lead to non-compliance to ACD, fire hazards or charger downtime.
4. Contractor & Resource Management
- Manage sub-contractors (electricians and civil workers), temporary workers / foreign workers in ensuring they adhere to the project timeline and safety requirement.
- Track the delivery of critical components (chargers, pedestals, and specialized cables) to the site to prevent project delayed.
- Act as the first point of contact for technical "surprises" on-site, such as unforeseen underground utilities or insufficient grid capacity.
- Site housekeeping and proper storage of high value components to prevent damage and theft at the site.
5. Documentation & Reporting
- Daily Progress Reports (DPR)-Provide photo-documented updates to the Project Manager regarding milestones and delays.
- As-Built Drawings: Record any deviations from the original plan to ensure the Maintenance Team has accurate data for future repairs.
Qualifications, Skills and Competencies:
- Minimum Certificate/Diploma in Architecture / Civil Engineering, possess PW4 Wireman certificate or Chargeman A0/A1/A4 License from Suruhanjaya Tenaga (Energy Commission) is an added advantage.
- Minimum 3–5 years in electrical project supervision or construction site supervision.
- Strong Proficiency in reading electrical blueprints and civil blueprints.
- Valid driving license and willingness to travel frequently to various site locations.
- Ability to manage on-site activities, including contractor supervision, safety enforcement, and quality control.
- Solid communication and interpersonal skills for working with cross-functional teams, vendors, and stakeholders.
- Competence in using basic office software and project documentation tools (e.g., spreadsheets, reports, presentations).
