Job Purpose

To independently set up, operate and optimise CNC machining processes to achieve required production output, dimensional accuracy, quality and delivery requirements.

Key Responsibilities

·Perform CNC machine setup independently according to approved drawings, programmes and work instructions.
· Select and install appropriate cutting tools, holders, workholding fixtures and related tooling.
· Set machine offsets and make appropriate adjustments to achieve dimensional requirements.
· Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and tolerances.
· Operate CNC machines safely and efficiently.
· Perform first-piece inspection and in-process dimensional checks.
· Use precision measuring instruments including micrometers, vernier calipers, height gauges, gauges and other inspection equipment.
· Identify and troubleshoot machining problems such as dimensional variation, tool wear, chatter, surface finish and machine abnormalities.
· Make appropriate tool/offset adjustments to maintain product quality.
· Monitor tool life and recommend suitable tooling changes.
· Identify opportunities to improve machining cycle time, tooling utilisation and process efficiency.
· Work closely with Production, Quality and Engineering teams to resolve technical issues.
· Ensure production records, inspection records and relevant documentation are completed accurately.
· Maintain machine condition, cleanliness and 5S standards.
· Follow all safety, quality and production procedures.
· Assist in training and guiding CNC Operators / Junior Machinists.
· Support trial runs, new job setup and process improvement activities.
· Report recurring machine or process issues to the supervisor and recommend corrective actions.
· Perform other duties assigned by the superior.

Requirements

· SKM / Certificate / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Machining, Mechatronics or related field.
· Preferably 2–5 years of relevant CNC machining experience.
· Demonstrated experience in CNC machine setup and operation.
· Able to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T/tolerances.
· Proficient in using precision measuring instruments.
· Good knowledge of cutting tools, tooling and machining processes.
· Able to perform basic troubleshooting independently.
· CNC programming knowledge is an advantage.
· Able to work independently with minimum supervision.
· Good discipline, attention to detail and safety awareness.
