About the role

We are seeking an Account Assistant to join the finance team at Mentakab Veneer and Plywood Sdn Bhd. This is a full-time position based in Mentakab, Pahang. As an Account Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the day-to-day accounting operations of our organisation. You will assist in maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This position is essential to the smooth functioning of our finance department and contributes directly to the financial health and integrity of the company.

Key responsibilities

• Recording and posting financial transactions in the accounting system with accuracy and timeliness

• Processing invoices, receipts, and other financial documentation

• Assisting with bank reconciliations and account reconciliations

• Maintaining general ledger accounts and ensuring all entries are properly documented

• Supporting the preparation of financial reports and statements

• Filing and organising financial documents in accordance with company procedures

• Assisting with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions

• Supporting the senior accounting staff with month-end and year-end closing procedures

• Responding to queries regarding financial records and transactions

• Ensuring compliance with company accounting policies and procedures

What we're looking for

• Qualification in accounting, bookkeeping or a related field (SPM, Diploma or above)

• Proficiency in accounting software and spreadsheet applications such as Microsoft Excel

• Strong numerical and analytical skills with keen attention to detail

• Excellent organisational and time management abilities

• Good communication skills, both written and verbal

• Ability to work accurately under pressure and meet deadlines

• Knowledge of accounting principles and practices relevant to small to medium enterprises

• Familiarity with Malaysian accounting standards and tax regulations is preferred

• Previous experience in a bookkeeping or accounting role is an advantage

• Integrity and confidentiality in handling sensitive financial information
