Job Purpose
To prepare and serve high-quality food consistently while maintaining excellent standards of taste, presentation, hygiene, food safety, and kitchen efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
1. Food Preparation & Cooking
- Prepare and cook food according to the restaurant's recipes and standards.
- Ensure consistent taste, portion size, quality, and presentation.
- Prepare mise en place and ensure all ingredients are ready before service.
- Handle cooking during busy service periods efficiently.
- Follow proper cooking methods and food-handling procedures.
2. Kitchen Operations
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and workstations.
- Ensure all kitchen equipment is used safely and correctly.
- Monitor food preparation and service to minimize delays and wastage.
- Coordinate with other kitchen team members during service.
- Assist with receiving, checking, and storing food supplies.
3. Food Safety & Hygiene
- Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards at all times.
- Ensure ingredients are stored at the correct temperature and conditions.
- Follow FIFO (First In, First Out) stock rotation.
- Prevent cross-contamination and food wastage.
- Maintain personal hygiene and proper kitchen attire.
4. Stock & Cost Control
- Monitor ingredient usage and report low-stock items.
- Control portion sizes to maintain food cost.
- Minimize food wastage and spoilage.
- Inform the Head Chef or Manager of damaged or expired ingredients.
5. Teamwork
- Work closely with the Head Chef, kitchen assistants, and service team.
- Support junior kitchen staff when required.
- Maintain a positive and respectful working environment.
- Assist with training new kitchen staff when assigned.
Requirements
- Previous experience working in a restaurant, café, hotel, or commercial kitchen.
- Certificate/Diploma in Culinary Arts or relevant experience is an advantage.
- Good knowledge of cooking techniques and food preparation.
- Knowledge of food hygiene and kitchen safety.
- Able to work under pressure during peak hours.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Willing to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays when required.

Pay: RM1,800.00 - RM3,000.00 per month
