Job Description

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute the full export process for shrimp shipments to Korea, China, Australia, and domestic destinations, from order confirmation to shipment departure.
  • Liaise with freight forwarders, shipping lines, cold-chain logistics providers and customs agents to arrange bookings, container space and delivery schedules.
  • Monitor shipment timelines and proactively resolve delays, documentation gaps, or compliance issues before they impact delivery.
  • Prepare and submit applications to Sabah DOF (Jabatan Perikanan Sabah) for export permits and related approvals.
  • Coordinate with relevant authorities to obtainHealth Certificates, Certificates of Origin, etc required by destination countries.
  • Stay current on export/import regulations and product standards specific to each destination market.
  • Ensure full traceability documentation (farm-to-shipment) is maintained in line with buyer and regulatory audits.
  • Prepare, verify and manage export documents including but not limited to: Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Bill of Lading, Certificate of Origin, Health Certificate and DOF export permits.
  • Ensure all documents are accurate, complete and submitted within required timelines to avoid shipment delays or rejections at the port of entry.
  • Maintain organized, up-to-date records of all shipment and compliance documents for internal and external audits.
  • Work closely with the production/processing team to align shipment schedules with harvest and processing timelines.
  • Communicate with overseas buyers/agents on shipment status, documentation requirements and any changes in destination country regulations.
  • Support management with shipment cost tracking, freight comparisons and export performance reporting.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience in shipping/export operations, preferably within the seafood, aquaculture industry in Sabah.
  • Proven, hands-on experience dealing with Sabah DOF processes and export permit applications.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing health certificates and export documentation for shipments to Korea, China, and/or etc.
  • Experience with shrimp or other live/frozen seafood export is highly preferred.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Solid understanding of international export procedures, incoterms, and customs clearance processes.
  • Familiarity with cold-chain/perishable goods logistics requirements.
  • Working knowledge of import regulations for Korea, China, and Australia (or willingness to quickly learn and stay updated).
  • Strong attention to detail — documentation errors can result in shipment rejection or financial loss.
  • Good command of English (written and spoken); Bahasa Malaysia required; Mandarin an advantage (for liaising with China-based buyers/agents).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and comfortable with basic digital documentation/record-keeping systems.

Other Requirements

  • Willing to travel locally (to DOF offices, ports, processing facilities) as needed.
  • Able to work under tight shipment deadlines and manage multiple shipments/markets concurrently.
  • Own transport preferred, as the role may require visits to government offices and port facilities.

Pay: RM2,500.00 - RM3,500.00 per month
