About the Opportunity
On behalf of our client, an established company operating within the property development and construction sector in Kuching, Sarawak, RIHGA is currently seeking an experienced Accountant to join their finance team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for full-spectrum accounting, financial reporting, compliance and day-to-day finance operations, supporting the company's property development and construction activities.
This position requires a professionally qualified accountant with strong accounting fundamentals, attention to detail and the ability to independently manage financial reporting and statutory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle and oversee full set of accounts, including General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial and management reports.
- Perform month-end and year-end closing, including reconciliations, accruals, provisions and journal entries.
- Prepare and review financial statements and ensure the accuracy of accounting records.
- Monitor cash flow, bank balances, payments, collections and bank reconciliations.
- Support project accounting, including project costs, progress billings/claims and related financial transactions.
- Assist management with budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, company policies and statutory requirements.
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax agents, bankers and relevant authorities.
- Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation for statutory audits.
- Support tax-related matters and ensure timely submission of required financial information.
- Maintain proper internal controls and recommend improvements to accounting processes and procedures.
- Provide financial information and analysis to management to support business and project decision-making.
- Perform other finance and accounting duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
- Professional qualification such as ACCA or CPA is required.
- Minimum 4–5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably with hands-on full-set accounting and financial reporting responsibilities.
- Experience within property development, construction or project-based businesses will be a strong advantage.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, statutory audit, taxation and accounting principles.
- Knowledge and practical exposure to Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS) is highly preferred.
- Property development candidates with exposure to MFRS 15 – Revenue from Contracts with Customers would be particularly advantageous.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and familiarity with accounting/ERP systems.
- Good analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills.
- Able to work independently while coordinating effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Good command of Mandarin and English.
- Must be willing to be based in Kuching, Sarawak.
Pay: RM5,000.00 - RM8,000.00 per month
