Lead Full Stack Engineer / Software Architect – AI-First WMS

About the Role

We are looking for a highly capable Lead Full Stack Engineer / Software Architect to take technical ownership of the continued upgrade and development of our Warehouse Management System (WMS).

This is a hands-on technical leadership role.

You will work closely with our Scrum Master, who will manage business requirements, user stories, priorities and sprint planning. Your responsibility will be to translate those requirements into strong technical solutions, design the architecture, guide implementation and ensure the quality of the overall codebase.

We operate an AI-first development environment. We expect AI coding agents to perform a meaningful portion of development work, while you act as the architect and engineering owner responsible for directing, reviewing and validating that work.

We are looking for someone who can think beyond individual coding tasks and take ownership of how the system should be designed and built.

What You Will Be Doing

• Own and continuously improve the technical architecture of our WMS platform
• Work directly with the Scrum Master to understand development requirements and priorities
• Convert business requirements and user stories into clear technical implementation plans
• Design backend, frontend, database and API architecture
• Develop and maintain full-stack features when required
• Use AI coding agents extensively to accelerate software development
• Structure tasks and technical instructions so AI agents can execute development work effectively
• Review, test and improve AI-generated code before it reaches production
• Refactor and improve existing systems and legacy code
• Build and maintain APIs and integrations with external platforms
• Improve application performance, reliability and scalability
• Ensure strong database design and data integrity
• Implement and maintain automated testing
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues
• Maintain good engineering standards, documentation and development practices
• Support deployment, CI/CD and cloud infrastructure where required

AI Development Experience

AI-assisted software development is an important part of this role.

You should already be comfortable using modern AI coding tools such as:

• Claude Code
• OpenAI Codex
• Cursor
• GitHub Copilot
• Gemini CLI
• Similar AI coding and agentic development tools

We are not looking for someone who only occasionally asks ChatGPT coding questions.

You should understand how to use AI agents to:

• Analyse existing codebases
• Plan implementations
• Generate and modify code
• Refactor systems
• Write tests
• Investigate bugs
• Review code
• Work across multiple files and modules

Most importantly, you must have the technical ability to identify when AI-generated code is incorrect, poorly designed or unsafe.

AI may assist with writing the code, but you remain responsible for the architecture and quality of the final system.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong professional experience as a Full Stack Developer, Senior Software Engineer, Lead Engineer or Software Architect
• Ideally 7+ years of professional software development experience
• Strong software architecture and system design skills
• Strong backend development experience
• Strong frontend development experience
• Strong SQL and relational database knowledge
• Strong understanding of APIs and third-party integrations
• Experience building and maintaining production applications
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
• Experience with automated testing
• Experience with Git and modern development workflows
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and deployment
• Ability to independently make sound technical decisions
• Strong code review and engineering quality standards

Preferred Technical Experience

Logistics experience is preferred but not mandatory.

We are looking for someone who is comfortable being the technical owner of a system, rather than simply completing assigned coding tickets.

You should be able to receive a requirement from the Scrum Master, understand the underlying problem, determine the best technical approach and ensure that the solution is implemented properly.

You should also be highly interested in the future of AI-assisted software development and comfortable working in an environment where AI agents handle more of the implementation while the engineer focuses increasingly on architecture, technical decisions, review and quality control.
