We are seeking a Laboratory Junior Executive to support laboratory operations, testing activities, quality assurance, and technical investigations involving raw materials, in-process compounds, and finished products at our Chembong and Sendayan plants.

The ideal candidate will have solid hands-on laboratory experience, strong analytical capabilities and a good understanding of rubber, latex, polymer or manufacturing processes. This role will work closely with R&D, Production, Quality and Procurement teams to ensure reliable test results, compliance with applicable standards and effective technical support for continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform and oversee laboratory testing of incoming raw materials, in-process compounds and finished products in accordance with internal specifications and applicable international standards.

  • Conduct and interpret chemical, latex colloidal and physical property testing, including pH, viscosity, density, purity, particle size, TSC, MST, coagulum, tensile strength, elongation, tear strength, hardness, puncture and cut resistance.

  • Analyze laboratory results, identify trends and deviations, investigate root causes, and provide sound technical recommendations for process and product improvement.

  • Support R&D activities, raw material evaluations, production trials, troubleshooting and new product development.

  • Ensure laboratory test methods are properly implemented, including method validation/verification, equipment calibration, preventive maintenance and performance monitoring.

  • Maintain accurate laboratory records, calibration documentation, retention samples, COA verification and non-conformance reports.

  • Coordinate with external accredited laboratories for third-party testing and evaluate test reports for compliance and technical suitability.

  • Ensure laboratory activities comply with relevant ASTM, ISO and EN/IEC standards, as well as applicable internal specifications and procedures.

  • Support compliance with the organization's Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety Management Systems, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.

  • Provide guidance, coaching and training to laboratory personnel to strengthen technical competency and promote consistent laboratory practices.

  • Collaborate effectively with R&D, Production, Quality and Procurement teams to resolve technical issues and support business and operational requirements.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing laboratory efficiency, testing reliability, product quality and process performance.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Polymer Science, Chemistry, or a related discipline.

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant laboratory experience, preferably within the rubber, latex, polymer, glove or manufacturing industry.

  • Strong hands-on experience in laboratory testing of raw materials, in-process compounds and finished products.

  • Sound knowledge and practical experience in:

    • Chemical analysis: pH, viscosity, density, purity, particle size and related testing.

    • Latex colloidal properties: TSC, viscosity, pH, MST, coagulum and related parameters.

    • Physical testing: tensile strength, elongation, tear strength, hardness, puncture, cut resistance and other relevant product performance tests.

  • Good working knowledge of international testing standards, particularly ASTM, ISO and EN/IEC.

  • Experience in laboratory method validation/verification, equipment calibration and preventive maintenance.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret laboratory data, investigate root causes and translate findings into clear technical reports and recommendations.

  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 or similar Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety Management Systems.

  • Experience in laboratory documentation, COA verification, retention sample management and non-conformance reporting.

  • Ability to coordinate with external accredited laboratories and critically evaluate third-party test results.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across R&D, Production, Quality and Procurement functions.

  • Experience in supervising, coaching or training laboratory personnel will be an added advantage.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Knowledge of statistical analysis tools is an advantage.

  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented and well-organized, with the ability to work independently and manage priorities with minimal supervision.

  • To support production trials, technical troubleshooting and continuous improvement activities as required.

What We Are Looking For

Beyond technical competency, we value a candidate who demonstrates ownership, attention to detail and sound technical judgment. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, able to turn laboratory data into meaningful insights, and willing to take an active role in solving problems and improving laboratory and production performance.

If you are looking for an opportunity to broaden your laboratory expertise and contribute to product quality, process improvement and technical excellence, we would like to hear from you.
