Job Description

Responsibilities

This position is open to candidates with expertise in relevant areas of Quantity Surveying, with a preference for specialisation in measurement, cost control, and cost planning.

The successful candidate will be expected to convene and deliver undergraduate units of study within the School of Engineering and Science, covering areas related to Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, and their respective research expertise.

In addition, the ability to teach a wide range of Quantity Surveying areas including the following will be an added advantage:

  • Construction Technology,
  • Measurements, Professional Practice, and
  • Construction-related software and technology

The academic staff will normally:

  • Deliver high-quality teaching and learning through lectures, tutorials/laboratories, assessments, and student consultation and mentoring.
  • Develop and enhance curriculum and learning materials across relevant programs and levels, with a strong focus on innovation and teaching excellence.
  • Contribute to academic and professional development by designing executive training programs, expanding learning initiatives, and continuously enhancing teaching and mentoring expertise.
  • Conduct and grow impactful research through scholarly activities, publications, and dissemination of research outputs.
  • Supervise and develop researchers by guiding honours, postgraduate, and doctoral students and contributing to research training.
  • Build research capacity and collaboration through research groups, external funding opportunities, and strategic research networks.
  • Provide academic and professional leadership while maintaining high standards across teaching, learning, and Faculty activities.
  • Contribute to Faculty development and governance through the administration and enhancement of academic programs, policies, and management systems.
  • Build strong external and community partnerships through engagement with industry, professional networks, and the wider community.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • PhD in Quantity Surveying; Construction Management; Civil Engineering; or related discipline.
  • A Professional Quantity Surveying (PQS) or Consultant Quantity Surveying (CQS) candidate will be an added advantage. 
  • Demonstrated research excellence with a strong track record of high-quality research outputs
  • Professional expertise in Quantity Surveying, with relevant industry experience and knowledge of current practices.
  • Experience in higher education teaching or training, with proficiency in industry-relevant software and technology considered an advantage.
  • Professional engagement through active involvement in relevant Quantity Surveying professional organisations or industry networks is desirable.

Pay: RM7,000.00 - RM13,000.00 per month

Work Location: In person
