Position Overview

We are hiring experienced Cantonese-English Medical Interpreters for full-time, remote positions. This role focuses on providing over-the-phone interpretation (OPI) in clinical settings such as primary care, emergency services, and mental health consultations.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver accurate and neutral interpretation between Cantonese-speaking patients and English-speaking healthcare staff
• Maintain professional conduct and confidentiality at all times
• Interpret medical terminology, procedures, and healthcare information with precision and clarity
• Follow HIPAA guidelines and the Interpreter Code of Ethics
• Handle a variety of medical scenarios with professionalism and cultural sensitivity
• Remain available during scheduled shifts and attend required coaching sessions or QA reviews

Qualifications

• Native or near-native fluency in Cantonese and English
• Minimum of two (2) years of medical interpretation experience; OPI or VRI experience preferred
• Strong understanding of medical terminology and interpreter protocols
• High school diploma or equivalent required; advanced education preferred
• Excellent listening, memory, and note-taking skills
• Comfortable working across multiple platforms and call types
• Must successfully pass a language proficiency assessment and background check
