About the role
This role oversees the plant's network infrastructure, systems administration, and IT service delivery. You will manage core network routing, switching, enterprise firewalls, and LAN segmentation; maintain on-premises server hardware, storage area networks, and enterprise virtualization clusters; and provide technical support to ensure site network and infrastructure runs smoothly with minimum downtime.
Key responsibilities
Network & Security Management
- Network Infrastructure: Oversee the plant's core network routing, switching, enterprise firewalls (e.g., Cisco), and Local Area Network (LAN) segmentation.
- Connectivity & Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve user connectivity issues, including local network drops, office/plant Wi-Fi, and secure VPN connections.
- Infrastructure Support: Support diverse IT infrastructure connections including WAN (leased lines, ADSL, ISDN, dial-up), Wireless LAN, and LAN.
- Monitoring & Compliance: Actively monitor Proxy, Firewall, and Antivirus activities across regional offices to maintain security standards – along with Group IT support
- Industrial Networking: Apply knowledge of Industrial Ethernet and Layer 2/3 switches to bridge corporate IT and manufacturing plant environments. (not mandatory but can be plus point)
Systems Administration & Virtualization
- Server Architecture: Maintain on-premises server hardware, storage area networks (SAN/NAS), and enterprise virtualization clusters (e.g., VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V)
- Terminal & Thin Client Management: Supervise the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of plant office hardware, client terminals, industrial thin clients, and peripherals.
- VDI & Citrix Support: Provision, troubleshoot, and optimize virtual desktops and application delivery within the Citrix environment for shift workers and plant operators.
- Directory & Network Services: Manage active server environments, domain controllers, Active Directory (AD), Group Policies, and DNS/DHCP services to guarantee high availability for corporate and plant applications.
- Cloud & Collaborative Tools: Manage the M365 Admin portal and Azure environments; support Microsoft SharePoint Folders, Print Servers, and File Servers.
- Performing, checking and monitoring backup operations (daily, system & images backups of AWA).
- User Lifecycle: Process user onboarding and off-boarding requests based on HR notifications via the ITNow service.
Service Desk & Change Control
- Level 1 & 2 Support: Provide high-quality technical troubleshooting for hardware, Windows operating systems, secure VPN connections, email profiles, and standard office applications.
- SLA & Queue Management: Manage the local IT service helpdesk queue, ensuring incidents are logged accurately, resolved within agreed SLAs, and escalated efficiently.
- Testing & Deployment: Conduct thorough system, hardware, and software testing prior to any new site implementations or upgrades (OS, patches, antivirus definitions, hardware swaps) – as and when required only
Procurement, Vendor & Asset Management
- SAP Procurement: Generate and track Purchase Requests (PR) via SAP (minimum basic knowledge required).
- Financial Coordination: Coordinate budgetary approvals for IT service contracts, software renewals, and hardware purchases while meticulously tracking every transaction.
- Inventory Accuracy: Maintain accurate physical labelling and up-to-date documentation of all IT hardware and software assets in the IMS system, including the filing/scanning of purchasing records.
- Ensure up-to-date documentation on IT assets (such as hardware and software inventories) into IMS system.
- Vendor Operations: Act as the primary local contact to manage external service providers, ISPs (Metro E), Telco vendors (Mobile Lines), and IP Phone services & VIOP.
About you
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent
- At least 8 years’ relevant working experience in networking and EUC
- Knowledge of Industrial Ethernet and Layer 2/3 switches to bridge corporate IT and manufacturing plant environments
- Minimum basic knowledge of SAP procurement required
- Ability to provide high-quality technical troubleshooting for hardware, Windows operating systems, secure VPN connections, email profiles, and standard office applications
- Experience managing IT service helpdesk queue, ensuring incidents are logged accurately and resolved within agreed SLAs
- Ability to conduct thorough system, hardware, and software testing prior to new site implementations or upgrades
- Experience maintaining accurate physical labelling and documentation of IT hardware and software assets
- Ability to act as primary local contact to manage external service providers, ISPs, Telco vendors, and IP Phone services
