We are looking for a Warehouse Assistant (Temporary Contract - 6 months) to support the daily operations of the warehouse, including material receiving, storage, issuing, preservation, stock control and housekeeping. The role is responsible for ensuring materials are handled safely and efficiently while maintaining accurate inventory records in SAP.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure non-stock materials are delivered to business users promptly to support plant operations and avoid potential plant outages.
- Issue materials according to approved pick lists and ensure stock balances are accurately maintained in SAP.
- Reconcile daily material issues and pick lists with the relevant summaries.
- Ensure all after-hours material issues are accurately recorded.
- Safely perform loading and unloading activities using a forklift.
- Ensure proper preservation and storage of inventory, particularly capital and critical spare parts.
- Properly stage Project and Turnaround materials and issue them to end users when required.
- Coordinate the disposal of scrap materials with appointed scrap dealers.
- Maintain high standards of HSSE in all warehouse activities and operations.
- Perform Goods Receipt (GR) transactions in SAP in the absence of the Warehouse Supervisor to ensure timely processing and avoid delays in vendor payments.
- Conduct weekly checks on rotor N₂ pressure and other equipment/items as required.
- Maintain and continuously improve the level of internal customer service.
- Ensure proper binning and storage of received materials, including:
- Tagging materials with the received date and PO number.
- Preserving materials where necessary.
- Applying appropriate colour coding in accordance with material specifications.
- Stacking materials safely and systematically according to material codes.
- Using forklifts or cranes for heavy and bulky materials where required.
- Ensuring proper FIFO practices.
- Maintaining good housekeeping, security and safety standards within the warehouse and yard.
KEY CHALLENGES
- Ensure materials received are in accordance with the Purchase Order, including type, part number and quantity.
- Ensure timely processing of material receipts and issues to meet internal customer requirements.
- Maintain stock and critical materials in good condition through proper preservation.
- Ensure contractors comply with warehouse procedures when disposing of scrap materials at the Scrap Yard.
REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum SPM or equivalent qualification.
- At least 1 year of experience in warehousing or a related field.
- Able to communicate in English.
- Good handwriting and basic documentation skills.
- Physically fit and comfortable performing warehouse-related activities.
- Valid Forklift Driving Licence (Class H) is required.
- Good teamwork and housekeeping awareness.
- Safety-conscious and able to follow warehouse procedures and HSSE requirements.
