Job Purpose
Supervise and coordinate daily assembly operations to meet production schedules, quality standards, and safety requirements. Lead, train, and develop the assembly team while acting as the first-line technical resource for production issues and continuous improvement on the shop floor.
Key Responsibilities & Job Description1. Production & Manpower Management
- Plan and allocate daily assembly tasks across workstations to meet production schedules and delivery targets
- Conduct daily briefings/stand-up meetings to communicate goals, review progress, and assign responsibilities
- Monitor work-in-process (WIP) flow and coordinate priorities to ensure on-time completion of work orders
- Manage operator shift scheduling, attendance, and manpower allocation based on production demand
- Prepare daily production reports and track output against targets
2. Process Supervision & Technical Support
- Oversee assembly processes to ensure adherence to work instructions, procedures, and specifications
- Provide hands-on technical support and first-level troubleshooting for assembly equipment and process issues
- Set up machines and equipment as required for production runs
- Ensure correct tools, fixtures, and materials are available and properly used
3. Quality Control
- Ensure assembled products meet company and customer quality standards
- Monitor assembly operations for quality issues and take corrective action as needed
- Work with Quality personnel to identify and resolve recurring defects or workmanship issues
- Maintain proper documentation and traveler accuracy
4. Equipment & Maintenance Coordination
- Monitor equipment condition and coordinate with Maintenance for preventive maintenance and breakdown resolution
- Ensure equipment reliability and report abnormalities
- Track tooling and consumable usage to control cost
5. Safety, 5S & Compliance
- Enforce safety regulations, protocols, and proper use of PPE
- Ensure safe work practices and address unsafe conditions promptly
- Maintain excellent housekeeping and 5S standards across the assembly area
6. Team Leadership & Development
- Supervise, coach, and motivate a team of assembly technicians/operators
- Conduct on-the-job training and cross-training to build team flexibility
- Assess employee performance, provide feedback, and address performance concerns
- Maintain training records and support employee development
- Handle team welfare, counselling, and disciplinary matters as needed
7. Continuous Improvement
- Drive initiatives to improve productivity, quality, safety, and efficiency
- Identify bottlenecks and lead quick-response countermeasures
- Support Kaizen events and lean manufacturing practices
- Provide feedback to Engineering and Supply Chain on build issues and material shortages
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Minimum SPM/Diploma; Technical or Associate Degree in manufacturing, engineering, or related field preferred
- Experience: Minimum 3–5 years in assembly/manufacturing; prior supervisory or team lead experience required
- Technical Knowledge:
- Understanding of assembly processes, tooling, and fixtures
- Ability to read blueprints, work instructions, and technical documentation
- Familiarity with hand tools, fixtures, torque applications, and assembly equipment
- Safety: Knowledge of PPE requirements and EHS regulations
- Soft Skills: Strong leadership, communication across shop floor and management levels, problem-solving under production pressure, attention to detail
- Physical: Able to stand, walk, and move throughout the production area for extended periods; willing to work shifts/overtime
