JOB SUMMARY

The successful candidate will be expected to develop and deliver undergraduate and graduate courses in the School of Design and Arts in areas related to communication design, digital media design, and interactive media practices. The role will contribute to the School’s teaching portfolio where design intersects with contemporary media technologies and communication platforms.

The position supports teaching in areas such as visual communication for digital platforms, interactive media design, digital content creation, and communication design for emerging media environments. The successful candidate may contribute to courses that explore the intersection of design, media production, and interactive technologies.

The ability to teach across a range of subjects including interactive design, digital media production, animation, digital imaging, and media prototyping will be highly valued.

Expertise in emerging areas such as immersive media, extended reality environments, game studies, game design principles, digital game prototyping, or interactive storytelling will be considered advantageous.

The academic staff will normally:

• Contribute to teaching at undergraduate, honours and post graduate level;
• Engage in independent scholarship and/or research;
• Contribute to professional activities appropriate to his or her profession or discipline;
• Contribute to the innovation ecosystem and contribute expertise to the creation of value from innovation and engagement activities.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• PhD/Master in Graphic Design; Visual Communication Design; Game Design, UX and UI Design, Immersive Reality Design, Interactive Media Design or related disciplines.
• Strong knowledge of digital media design, interactive media, and communication design for contemporary platforms.
• Expertise in one or more of the following areas will be considered advantageous:
• (a) interactive media and digital content design;
• (b) game studies, game design, or game prototyping;
• (c) immersive media (AR/VR/XR) and spatial media environments;
• (d) animation, digital imaging, or motion media; and/or
• (e) digital media production and interactive storytelling
• Experience in teaching in higher education in a relevant discipline.  
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.

Pay: RM7,000.00 - RM13,000.00 per month
