Job Description

Responsibilities

Role Overview

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented IT Assistant to join our team. This role is ideal for a tech-savvy individual with a strong foundation in IT infrastructure, database management, web development, networking, and technical documentation.

The successful candidate should possess hands-on hardware troubleshooting skills, including the ability to install, configure, maintain, and repair desktop computers, printers, and other office equipment. The candidate should also have practical knowledge of network infrastructure, including LAN/WAN environments, network cabling, routers, switches, wireless access points, IP addressing, and basic network troubleshooting.

In addition to technical capabilities, the candidate must be able to prepare clear and structured IT documentation and written reports. This includes standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, technical reports, network and system documentation, infrastructure diagrams, equipment inventories, troubleshooting records, project proposals, implementation plans, and other administrative documentation related to IT operations and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize database queries for data migration and transformation processes, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Assist in diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, system, and network-related issues.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot computers, printers, network equipment, and other IT-related devices.
  • Assist in managing IT infrastructure, including servers, network switches, routers, firewalls, wireless access points, and structured network cabling.
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLAN, firewall, and wireless connectivity issues to minimize service disruption.
  • Perform regular system updates, backups, security checks, and preventive maintenance to maintain system availability, data integrity, and security.
  • Prepare and maintain IT documentation, including SOPs, work instructions, technical reports, network diagrams, infrastructure records, asset inventories, troubleshooting guides, project documentation, and implementation reports.
  • Assist in preparing technical specifications, project proposals, quotations, comparisons, management papers, and other IT-related write-ups.
  • Maintain accurate records of IT assets, licenses, equipment configurations, warranties, maintenance activities, and system changes.
  • Collaborate with departments and external vendors to understand IT requirements and deliver appropriate solutions.
  • Document technical incidents, identified issues, troubleshooting activities, solutions, and corrective actions for future reference.
  • Provide user support and basic training on IT systems, applications, equipment, and security practices.
  • Perform other IT-related duties and projects assigned by the Head of Department.

Qualifications and Skills

Education

At least a Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

Technical Proficiency

  • Strong knowledge of database management and query scripting, such as SQL.
  • Knowledge or experience in web development using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, or relevant frameworks.
  • Practical understanding of IT infrastructure, including servers, network equipment, computer hardware, operating systems, and structured cabling.
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, firewall configuration, and wireless network management.
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot hardware, software, system, and network-related issues efficiently.
  • Ability to prepare clear technical documentation, reports, SOPs, work instructions, diagrams, proposals, and other professional IT-related write-ups.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio or similar diagramming tools.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate technical and administrative records.
  • Ability to organize tasks, manage priorities, and coordinate with users, vendors, and other departments.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies, systems, tools, and operational requirements.
