Job Summary:
The Assistant Manager (Internal Audit) assists in planning, executing, and reporting internal audit activities to provide independent and objective assurance on the effectiveness of the organisation’s governance, risk management, and internal control systems. The role supports risk-based audit execution, identifies control weaknesses, recommends improvements, and ensures compliance with applicable policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, while contributing to continuous improvement and good governance.
Job Description:
1. Audit Planning & Execution
- Assist in developing and implementing risk-based internal audit plans.
- Conduct internal audit assignments covering operational, financial, compliance, and governance areas.
- Perform audit fieldwork, including process reviews, control testing, and substantive procedures.
- Ensure audits are conducted in accordance with approved audit methodologies and professional standards.
2. Risk Assessment & Control Evaluation
- Support enterprise risk assessment activities and identify key risk areas.
- Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls and governance processes.
- Identify control gaps, root causes, and potential risk exposures.
- Recommend practical and value-added control improvements.
3. Audit Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare clear, accurate, and timely audit working papers and reports.
- Draft audit findings, observations, and recommendations for management review.
- Present audit results to management and assist in reporting to the Audit & Risk Committee.
4. Follow-Up & Issue Management
- Monitor the implementation of agreed audit recommendations and corrective actions.
- Conduct follow-up audits to assess the effectiveness of remediation measures.
- Maintain audit issue tracking and reporting mechanisms.
5. Compliance & Governance Support
- Assist in assessing compliance with internal policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Support governance reviews and special assignments as directed by management or the Audit & Risk Committee.
- Contribute to initiatives that strengthen organisational governance and accountability.
6. Advisory & Stakeholder Engagement
- Provide advisory support to management on control improvements and risk mitigation.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to facilitate audit activities and promote awareness of internal controls.
- Coordinate with external auditors and regulators when required.
7. Continuous Improvement & Capacity Building
- Contribute to the enhancement of internal audit methodologies, tools, and practices.
- Stay updated on regulatory changes, emerging risks, and professional standards.
- Support training and knowledge-sharing initiatives within the Internal Audit function.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Audit, Risk Management, Business Administration, or related
- Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience in internal audit, risk management, compliance, or related assurance functions.
- Experience in risk-based auditing, governance reviews, and internal control assessments.
- Strong understanding of internal audit standards, governance frameworks, and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to plan and execute audit assignments independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
- Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; knowledge of audit tools/software is an added advantage.
