Team Lead, Maintenance (Tapah Plant)

Job Summary

We are looking for a Maintenance Team Lead to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. This role is responsible for minimizing equipment downtime, leading maintenance activities, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. You will play a key role in aligning maintenance priorities with production needs while strengthening team capability and operational performance.

Key Accountabilities

Maintenance Management

  • Lead and supervise a team of technicians, ensuring performance, safety, and compliance

  • Plan and execute preventive and corrective maintenance to maximize equipment uptime

  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and lead root cause analysis for recurring failures

  • Monitor maintenance KPIs (e.g., uptime, MTBF, MTTR) and drive continuous improvement

  • Support equipment performance optimization and energy efficiency initiatives

Cost Management

  • Manage and optimize maintenance budget, including labor and spare parts

  • Track expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities

  • Collaborate with finance on budgeting and forecasting

Project Management

  • Support installation, modification, and commissioning of new equipment

  • Lead maintenance-related CAPEX projects from planning to execution

  • Manage vendor relationships and ensure timely delivery of services and materials

Inventory Management

  • Maintain accurate records of equipment, spare parts, and maintenance history

  • Ensure availability of critical spare parts and proper documentation

People Management

  • Assign tasks, coach, and develop maintenance team members

  • Foster collaboration across maintenance, production, and engineering teams

  • Manage contractors and vendors for maintenance activities

HSE & Organizational Management

  • Ensure full compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards

  • Promote a zero-accident culture and enforce HSE policies

  • Conduct risk assessments and support site HSE initiatives

Job Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering field

  • Minimum 8-10 years of maintenance experience in industrial/manufacturing environments

  • Strong technical knowledge in equipment maintenance and troubleshooting

  • Experienced in equipment uptime, mean time between failures (MTBF), and mean time to repair (MTTR)

  • Experience with AutoCAD, SAP or maintenance systems is an advantage
