About the Role

We are seeking a Chemical Analyst to join our mining operations team. This role is critical in ensuring accurate mineral sample analysis, optimizing chemical processes, and supporting quality assurance in line with industry standards. The successful candidate will be based at the mining site laboratory and collaborate closely with mining engineers, QA/QC teams, and R&D specialists to drive efficiency, innovation, and safety in mineral processing.

Key Responsibilities

Sample Analysis

• - Analyze mineral samples to determine chemical composition.
• - Conduct qualitative and quantitative analyses using approved SOPs/WIs.
• - Introduce new testing methods to identify valuable elements.
• - Maintain laboratory facilities and report equipment defects promptly.

Process Optimization

• - Assist in sampling and inspection activities to enhance mining efficiency.
• - Collaborate with engineers to improve chemical processes.
• - Develop and test new reagents or methods to increase yield and reduce costs.

Quality Control

• - Work with QA/QC teams to ensure products meet specifications.
• - Test final products (metals/concentrates) against industry standards.
• - Oversee laboratory quality control procedures, calibration, and method validation.

Research & Development (R&D)

• - Innovate new methods for mineral extraction and processing.
• - Conduct research on cost-effective and environmentally friendly techniques.
• - Experiment with novel chemicals or processes for complex ores.

Health & Safety

• - Assess chemical hazards and implement safety protocols.
• - Develop and review SOPs for safe chemical handling and emergency response.

Project Management

• - Support chemical-related projects within mining operations.
• - Assist in managing budgets, timelines, and resources.
• - Coordinate with cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives.

Additional Requirements

• - Must be based at the mining site laboratory (full-time).
• - Willing to travel between mining sites and offices in Kuantan/Kuala Lumpur as required.

Qualifications

• - Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related field.
• - Hands-on experience in laboratory testing and chemical analysis.
• - Familiarity with analytical techniques (UV-Vis, HPLC, GC, FTIR, etc.).
• - Knowledge of process simulation and optimization is an advantage.
• - Strong commitment to safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.
• - Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
