Diploma, Certificate, or SPM with relevant manufacturing experience.
Job Purpose
To lead and coordinate daily assembly line operations by ensuring production targets, product quality, safety, and delivery schedules are achieved efficiently. The Production Leader is responsible for supervising assembly operators, balancing line manpower, monitoring productivity, resolving production issues, and maintaining smooth workflow throughout the assembly process.
Key Responsibilities
1. Production Operations
Lead and supervise assembly line operators to ensure production schedules and daily targets are achieved.
Organize and allocate manpower based on production requirements and line balancing.
Monitor assembly line performance and ensure continuous production flow with minimal downtime.
Ensure products are assembled according to approved work instructions, drawings, and standard operating procedures (SOP).
Verify that all required components, materials, and tools are available before production starts.
Coordinate production changeovers and new model introductions when required.
Escalate production issues that may impact output or delivery.
2. Quality Control
Ensure assembly work complies with customer specifications and quality standards.
Conduct in-process inspections and verify that operators perform required quality checks.
Identify product defects and implement immediate containment and corrective actions.
Work closely with the Quality Department to investigate and resolve quality issues.
Promote defect prevention and continuous quality improvement.
3. Line Management
Monitor hourly production output and take corrective actions to recover any production shortfalls.
Balance workload across the assembly line to maximize productivity.
Minimize bottlenecks and ensure smooth movement of work-in-progress (WIP).
Ensure proper identification and segregation of WIP, rejected products, and finished goods.
Coordinate with upstream and downstream processes to maintain uninterrupted production.
4. Safety & Housekeeping
Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, company policies, and PPE requirements.
Promote a safe working environment and immediately address unsafe conditions or behaviors.
Maintain 5S standards throughout the assembly area.
Report accidents, near misses, and safety hazards promptly.
5. Material & Inventory Control
Ensure sufficient components and consumables are available to support production.
Coordinate with the Store and Production Planning departments regarding material shortages.
Monitor material usage and minimize waste.
Ensure proper handling, storage, and traceability of production materials.
6. Equipment & Tools
Ensure assembly tools, fixtures, jigs, and equipment are maintained in good working condition.
Perform routine checks before production begins.
Report equipment malfunctions and coordinate with Maintenance for timely repairs.
Ensure proper use and storage of assembly tools.
7. Documentation & Reporting
Complete daily production reports, output records, downtime reports, and manpower reports.
Record quality issues, production losses, and corrective actions accurately.
Maintain production documentation in accordance with company procedures.
Report production performance and operational issues to the Production Supervisor.
8. Working Conditions
Work in a manufacturing and assembly environment.
Required to stand and walk for extended periods.
Required to wear appropriate PPE while working in production areas.
