Job Summary
The Senior Well Integrity Engineer is responsible for leading the planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of well integrity management throughout the well lifecycle to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operations. The role provides technical leadership in well integrity assurance, barrier management, engineering assessments, and remedial solutions while ensuring compliance with company standards, client requirements, regulatory obligations, and HSE policies. The Senior Well Integrity Engineer also mentors junior engineers, coordinates multidisciplinary teams, and drives continuous improvement initiatives to enhance well integrity performance and operational excellence.
1) Key Responsibilities
Well Integrity Leadership
· Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Well Integrity Management System (WIMS) in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
· Review and approve well integrity surveillance programmes, engineering assessments, and barrier verification activities.
· Lead integrity risk assessments and recommend mitigation strategies to maintain long-term well integrity.
· Monitor well integrity performance, key performance indicators (KPIs), and integrity assurance programmes.
· Ensure accurate well integrity records, databases, and technical documentation are maintained.
Engineering & Technical Leadership
· Lead engineering evaluations for sustained casing pressure, annulus pressure management, corrosion, tubing and casing integrity, and well barrier failures.
· Develop and approve remedial well intervention strategies to restore or maintain well integrity.
· Provide technical leadership and engineering support to drilling, completion, production, well intervention, and Plug & Abandonment operations.
· Review and approve engineering calculations, technical reports, and integrity assessments.
· Lead root cause analysis, technical investigations, and failure assessments for well integrity issues.
Project & Stakeholder Management
· Plan, coordinate, and oversee well integrity projects, inspections, testing, logging, and verification activities.
· Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, contractors, service providers, and client representatives throughout project execution.
· Monitor project schedules, budgets, resource utilisation, and technical deliverables.
· Ensure engineering documentation and project records are completed accurately and submitted on time.
· Support business development activities by providing technical expertise for well integrity solutions and project proposals.
HSE & Continuous Improvement
· Champion a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with company HSE Management Systems.
· Lead HAZID, HAZOP, Management of Change (MOC), and technical risk assessments.
· Support audits, regulatory inspections, and technical assurance reviews.
· Lead incident investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions related to well integrity.
· Mentor and develop junior engineers through coaching, technical guidance, and knowledge sharing.
· Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance engineering practices, operational efficiency, and well integrity performance.
2) Authorities
· Approve well integrity engineering recommendations and technical solutions within delegated authority.
· Recommend suspension of operations where well integrity, personnel safety, or environmental protection is at risk.
· Direct technical activities involving engineers, contractors, and service providers during integrity-related operations.
· Review and approve engineering calculations, integrity assessments, technical reports, and project documentation within delegated authority.
· Escalate significant technical, operational, commercial, or HSE risks to the Well Integrity Superintendent or Well Integrated Services Manager.
3) Qualifications & Requirements
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
Experience:
· Minimum 10 years of experience in Well Integrity, Drilling, Completions, Well Intervention, Production Engineering, or related well engineering disciplines within the Oil & Gas industry.
· Minimum 5 years of experience leading well integrity programmes or projects.
· Proven experience managing complex offshore and/or onshore well integrity operations.
· Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams, contractors, and service providers.
· Strong knowledge of Well Integrity Management Systems (WIMS), barrier management, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Languages: Good command of English, both written and spoken.
Technical Knowledge:
· Well Integrity Management Systems (WIMS).
· Well Barrier Philosophy and Barrier Verification.
· Well Intervention and Remedial Engineering.
· Casing and Tubing Integrity Assessment.
· Corrosion Monitoring and Integrity Risk Management.
· Root Cause Analysis and Failure Investigation.
· Project Planning, Risk Assessment, HAZID, HAZOP, and Management of Change (MOC).
· Well Engineering Software and Technical Reporting.
· Applicable API, ISO, PETRONAS Technical Standards, and relevant regulatory requirements.
· Mandatory certifications may include BOSIET/FOET with CA-EBS, H₂S Training, Offshore Medical Certificate, and other client-required certifications
