Role Description


This is a full-time, on-site Naval Architect role based in Kuching. The Naval Architect will be responsible for designing and developing a wide range of vessels, preparing design drawings and specifications, and performing stability, hydrostatic, and performance analyses to ensure safety, regulatory compliance, and efficiency. Daily tasks include conducting structural and engineering calculations, collaborating with marine engineers and other technical teams, and supporting clients with technical guidance throughout the vessel design and construction process. The role also involves reviewing classification society and regulatory requirements, optimizing designs for cost, weight, and performance, and contributing to innovation in green and alternative-fuel vessel solutions. The Naval Architect will participate in design reviews, assist in troubleshooting design issues, and provide technical support during shipbuilding, trials, and after-delivery modifications.


Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong Naval Architecture skills, including vessel design, stability analysis, hydrostatics, and hull form development.
  • Candidates should possess Structural Analysis and Calculations skills, covering strength assessments, scantling calculations, and fatigue or load evaluations.
  • Candidates should possess Marine Engineering knowledge, including propulsion systems, machinery layout, and integration of green and alternative-fuel technologies.
  • Candidates should possess familiarity with Navy and commercial vessel standards, rules of classification societies, and international maritime regulations.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Proficiency in ship design and analysis software (e.g., CAD tools, hydrostatic and structural analysis programs).
  • Strong technical drawing skills, attention to detail, and ability to interpret and produce engineering documentation.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate in a multidisciplinary environment on-site in Kuching
