Role Description The Legal Assistant role is a full-time, on-site position based in Taiping. The Legal Assistant will support lawyers in preparing and organizing legal documents, including contracts, pleadings, and correspondence, and assist with file management and case tracking. Daily tasks include handling administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, managing calendars, maintaining client records, and coordinating with courts, agencies, and other stakeholders. The role involves communicating with clients to gather information, provide updates, and ensure a professional and responsive experience. The Legal Assistant will also assist in basic legal research, document review, and coordination of conveyancing and corporate transactions as needed.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in law and a clear understanding of legal processes and terminology.
  • Proficiency in legal document preparation and document management.
  • Excellent communication skills, including professional client interaction and clear written communication.
  • Experience in administrative assistance, including scheduling, filing, and office organization.
  • Prior experience or training as a legal assistant or in a similar legal support role.
  • High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with lawyers and colleagues and maintain confidentiality and professional integrity.
  • Comfort with basic computer applications (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, email) and legal practice management software is an advantage.
  • Relevant diploma or degree in law, legal studies, or a related field is preferred.
  • Newly called to the bar is welcome
