Physical Commodities Trading - Base Metals

We are working with an established international commodities trading business looking to strengthen its physical base metals trading capabilities in Singapore.

The business is seeking an experienced Physical Base Metals Trader with a strong commercial network, proven trading experience and the ability to identify and develop profitable opportunities across international markets.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and develop a physical base metals trading portfolio, with exposure to products such as copper, aluminium, zinc, lead and nickel.
• Originate new trading opportunities, establishing relationships with producers, smelters, merchants and end users.
• Negotiate physical purchase and sales contracts, including pricing structures, payment terms and delivery conditions.
• Manage trading positions, commercial exposure and associated market risks.
• Work closely with operations, logistics, trade finance and risk teams to ensure successful trade execution.
• Identify opportunities to expand the company's trading activities and counterparty network across Asia and international markets.

Candidate Requirements

• Proven experience in physical base metals trading within a commodity trading house, merchant or relevant commercial business.
• Strong understanding of physical commodity markets, pricing mechanisms, supply chains and trade flows.
• Established relationships with relevant suppliers, customers and counterparties.
• Demonstrable commercial track record, ideally with direct P&L responsibility.
• Strong negotiation, relationship management and business development skills.
• Ability to operate independently within an international trading environment.
