JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Provide specialised technical expertise in protective coating systems, surface preparation, corrosion protection, Passive Fire Protection (PFP), Thermal Spray Aluminium (TSA), Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI) protection, and industrial lining systems for Oil & Gas projects.
• Develop, review, and recommend coating specifications, application procedures, and coating systems in accordance with applicable international standards, project specifications, and industry best practices.
• Evaluate and recommend suitable coating systems based on operating environments, substrate conditions, corrosion risks, service temperatures, and project requirements.
• Provide technical guidance on coating application methods, surface preparation requirements, environmental conditions, and quality control measures to ensure coating performance and durability.
• Review and assess coating inspection results, including surface profile, soluble salt contamination, dry film thickness (DFT), adhesion, and holiday testing, to verify compliance with technical specifications.
• Investigate coating failures and technical issues, including blistering, cracking, corrosion, disbandment and premature coating deterioration, and recommend appropriate remedial measures.
• Conduct technical assessments of coating materials, manufacturer data sheets, application procedures, and contractor proposals to ensure suitability and compliance with project requirements.
• Provide technical solutions and recommendations for coating repairs, rehabilitation, maintenance, and corrosion mitigation for offshore platforms, pipelines, refineries, petrochemical plants, LNG facilities, storage tanks, and process vessels.
• Review technical documentation, including coating specifications, method statements, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and inspection reports, to ensure technical accuracy and compliance.
• Liaise with clients, coating manufacturers, contractors, QA/QC teams, and project personnel to resolve coating-related technical issues and ensure the effective implementation of coating systems.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Corrosion Engineering, Chemical Engineering or another relevant engineering discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant specialised experience in Oil & Gas coating inspection, coating engineering or QA/QC, with practical experience in industrial coating projects.
• Proven experience working on Oil & Gas projects, preferably involving offshore facilities, pipelines, refineries, petrochemical plants, LNG facilities or storage tanks.
• Strong knowledge of NORSOK M-501, ISO 12944, ISO 8501, SSPC/NACE and other applicable international coating standards.
• Practical experience in at least several specialist coating areas, such as TSA, PFP, CUI protection, pipeline field joint coating and tank/vessel internal lining systems.
• Experience in coating system qualification, contractor evaluation, PQR review, coating inspection and failure investigation.
• Possess AMPP/NACE Coating Inspector or FROSIO certification; higher-level certification will be an advantage.
• Good knowledge of coating inspection equipment and testing methods, including DFT, surface profile, soluble salt, adhesion and holiday detection.
• Able to prepare and review technical reports, inspection documentation, coating procedures and quality records.
• Strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and provide technical support to project teams.
• Willing to travel to project sites, remote locations and offshore facilities when required.

Pay: RM5,000.00 - RM6,000.00 per month
