The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in civil and structural engineering, combined with practical experience in facilities operations, HVAC, and electrical systems. This role requires someone who is comfortable being on-site, identifying potential issues, troubleshooting technical problems, and working closely with contractors and internal stakeholders to ensure safe and efficient facility operations.
Key Responsibilities
Civil & Structural Maintenance
Conduct routine inspections of building structures, concrete works, drainage systems, and surrounding grounds to identify defects, deterioration, and maintenance requirements.
Verify actual site conditions against existing technical drawings and coordinate updates where necessary.
On-Site Operations & Troubleshooting
Take a hands-on approach to daily facility operations, including site investigations, technical troubleshooting, and resolving infrastructure-related issues.
Ensure timely follow-through on identified issues, from initial assessment through to resolution.
Contractor & Project Management
Coordinate with architects, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to execute maintenance and modification works.
Review technical drawings, blueprints, and structural plans to ensure compliance with relevant building codes and regulations.
Preventive Maintenance & Safety
Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to improve equipment reliability and minimise operational downtime.
Ensure all maintenance and engineering activities comply with Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) requirements.
Mechanical & Electrical Systems
Oversee the operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of HVAC systems, including Air Handling Units (AHUs), chillers, and air distribution systems.
Monitor and maintain electrical infrastructure, including high- and low-voltage distribution systems, lighting, and backup generators.
Facilities Improvement & Project Execution
Identify opportunities to enhance facility efficiency, reliability, and operational performance.
Prepare technical scopes of work and manage infrastructure improvement projects from planning through completion, ensuring adherence to budgets and timelines.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
Minimum
3–5 years of hands-on experience
in facilities engineering, building maintenance, construction, or site operations.
Strong understanding of civil and structural maintenance, with practical exposure to building infrastructure and site works.
Working knowledge of HVAC systems, particularly AHUs and chillers, as well as electrical distribution systems.
Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS), electrical single-line diagrams, and HVAC operating parameters.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and structural layouts using AutoCAD or equivalent software.
Knowledge of local building regulations and Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) requirements.
Key Competencies
Detail-Oriented:
Able to identify early signs of structural defects, equipment abnormalities, and potential system failures.
Hands-On & Proactive:
Comfortable working on-site alongside technicians and contractors, taking ownership of issues through to resolution.
Strong Problem-Solving Skills:
Able to assess technical challenges, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions.
Stakeholder Management:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across internal teams and external partners.
