About the role

We are looking for an Automation Assembly & Wiring Technician to join our Singapore engineering team and support the assembly, commissioning, maintenance and continuous improvement of ChemLex's automated chemistry equipment.

This is a highly hands-on role involving both mechanical assembly and electrical control wiring. You will work closely with our mechanical, electrical and automation engineers to build and commission sophisticated robotic equipment used within ChemLex's automated chemistry platform.

The role will include assembly of machine frames and mechanical systems, installation and alignment of linear-motion components, assembly and wiring of electrical control cabinets, cable installation and termination, equipment testing, troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.

We are looking for someone who is practical, technically competent and comfortable working independently on complex equipment. Attention to detail and a high standard of workmanship are particularly important.

Key responsibilities

• Perform mechanical assembly and mechanical commissioning of automation equipment.
• Perform electrical wiring for automation equipment.
• Carry out routine maintenance and servicing of company equipment.
• Assist engineers with equipment testing and validation.

Qualifications

• Experience in electrical control cabinet assembly and wiring is required. A low-voltage electrician certification is preferred.
• Hands-on experience in the assembly and commissioning of linear motion systems, including guide rails, ball screws, and rack-and-pinion mechanisms.
• Experience in assembling large-scale equipment.
• Solid mechanical fitting skills, strong ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, and a strong sense of responsibility.
• A practical, diligent, and detail-oriented work ethic, a proactive attitude, and the ability to work effectively under pressure.

Desirable

• NITEC, Higher NITEC, Diploma or equivalent technical qualification in Electrical, Mechatronics, Automation, Mechanical or a related engineering discipline.
• Experience with automation equipment manufacturers, machine builders, system integrators, semiconductor equipment or advanced manufacturing.
• Familiarity with PLC-controlled machinery, industrial sensors, motors, pneumatics and machine safety systems.
• Experience with robotic, laboratory or other precision automation equipment.
