Short Professional Job Description

Lead strategic procurement, supplier qualification, and sourcing operations for advanced optical materials supporting Applied Materials' photonics and augmented reality technology business. Develop category strategies, negotiate commercial agreements, strengthen supplier quality and performance, and manage supply chain risks to ensure cost competitiveness, material reliability, and long-term supply continuity.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute sourcing strategies for optical glass, crystalline substrates, coatings, and other specialised materials.
• Identify, evaluate, audit, and qualify suppliers against technical, quality, cost, and delivery requirements.
• Lead supplier negotiations, competitive sourcing events, total cost of ownership analysis, and contract management.
• Monitor supplier performance using scorecards, KPIs, business reviews, and corrective action plans.
• Work with Research & Development, Product Engineering, Quality, and Operations teams to qualify new materials and suppliers.
• Implement supplier quality frameworks, including APQP, PPAP, SPC, FMEA, and corrective and preventive actions.
• Drive cost reductions, payment-term improvements, contract compliance, and procurement efficiency.
• Assess supply chain risks, supplier capacity, financial stability, and geopolitical exposure.
• Develop alternative sourcing strategies to reduce dependency on single suppliers and improve supply resilience.
• Support new product introduction (NPI) and production ramp-up by ensuring supplier readiness and material availability.
• Prepare procurement performance reports and recommendations for senior management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline.
• Extensive experience in strategic procurement, supplier management, and category sourcing.
• Hands-on experience with optical glass, crystalline materials, precision substrates, or related advanced manufacturing materials.
• Strong knowledge of supplier qualification, manufacturing processes, and supplier quality management.
• Experience with commercial negotiations, sourcing contracts, cost analysis, and supplier development.
• Familiarity with APQP, PPAP, SPC, FMEA, 8D problem-solving, and CAPA processes.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work with global suppliers and cross-functional teams in a technology-driven environment.

Pay: $10,000.00 - $13,000.00 per month
