About the role

• The Resident Engineer (RE) is responsible for providing full-time, on-site engineering supervision of the piling and pile cap works for a passenger jetty construction project in Sabah. The Resident Engineer (RE) represents the Design Engineer's design intent on site and is responsible for the technical and quality oversight of this scope of works, while ensuring all records are properly submitted to the Project Consultant for endorsement.

• Key responsibilities

• Provide full-time site supervision of the piling and pile cap works, covering all stages from pile installation through to pile cap completion.

• Verify that the works are executed in accordance with the approved design, drawings, specifications, and relevant Malaysian codes of practice.

• Oversee and verify the quality of workmanship, materials, and site processes throughout the works, including review of relevant site test results and records.

• Review and endorse site quality records and technical documentation prior to submission to the Project Consultant for endorsement.

• Liaise with the Project Consultant's site representative on technical and quality matters, ensuring a clear and timely flow of records and reports.

• Identify and report any non-conformance, design queries, or site conditions requiring the Design Engineer's review, and coordinate resolution accordingly.

• Supervise and verify temporary works insofar as they interface with the piling and pile cap works.

• Attend site meetings, progress meetings, and technical meetings relevant to the works, as required.

• Maintain a daily site diary and progress records for the works under supervision.

• Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent, from a recognized institution.

• Registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) as a Professional Engineer or Graduate Engineer with relevant supervisory experience; Professional Engineer registration preferred.

• Minimum 8 years' relevant experience in civil/marine engineering, with at least 3 years in a Resident Engineer or equivalent site supervisory role.

• Prior experience in marine piling works is essential; experience with jetty, port, or coastal structure projects is highly advantageous.
