Electrical Engineer (Power) – Candidate Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (Power) or a related discipline.
• Registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) or eligible for registration.
• Graduate Engineer (GE) registration is preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) or Competent Electrical Engineer certification is an added advantage.

Experience

• Minimum 2–5 years of relevant experience in power systems, electrical distribution, substations, industrial plants, or utility projects.
• Experience in one or more of the following:
• Electrical power system design
• Power distribution (LV/MV/HV)
• Protection and relay coordination
• Testing & commissioning
• Operation & Maintenance (O&M)
• Project engineering and execution

Technical Skills

• Good knowledge of:
• Power system analysis
• Load flow studies
• Short circuit analysis
• Cable sizing
• Earthing and lightning protection systems
• Familiar with international and local standards such as IEC, IEEE, MS, and utility requirements.
• Proficient in engineering software such as:
• ETAP
• DIgSILENT PowerFactory
• AutoCAD
• EPLAN (preferred)
• Microsoft Project or Primavera (advantage)

Key Competencies

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prepare technical reports and engineering documentation.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong project coordination and time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with substations (11kV, 33kV, 132kV or above).
• Knowledge of SCADA, Protection & Control systems.
• Experience in renewable energy projects (Solar PV, Battery Energy Storage Systems, etc.).
• Experience in Factory Acceptance Test (FAT), Site Acceptance Test (SAT), and commissioning activities.
• Valid driving licence and willingness to travel or work at project sites when required.

Responsibilities (Optional for Job Posting)

• Design, review, and implement electrical power systems for industrial or utility projects.
• Prepare electrical calculations, technical specifications, and engineering drawings.
• Conduct site inspections, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
• Ensure compliance with applicable standards, regulations, and safety requirements.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal project teams.
• Provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle.

Pay: RM3,500.00 - RM4,000.00 per month
