Job Description

Responsibilities

The upcoming Eastern General Hospital (EGH) seeks to provide excellent healthcare and promote healing that is centred around each person. When operational, EGH will provide a comprehensive range of inpatient and outpatient clinical specialties and healthcare services covering emergency, acute and secondary care. EGH’s vision is to be a great hospital for the community and a great workplace for staff, and it seeks to do so by harnessing innovative technologies in patient care, journeying closely with patients and the community to lead healthier and more fulfilling lives, and being an employer of choice that empowers staff in their careers.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to play a key role in shaping the financial planning and decision-support capabilities of EGH as it prepares for operations. This is a meaningful opportunity for a finance professional who enjoys contributing to a growing organisation, partnering stakeholders and turning financial information into insights that support strategic and operational decisions.

You will support the preparation and presentation of financial reports to management, lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process, and provide financial analysis to guide management decision-making. Working closely with Clinical, Operational and other key stakeholders, you will coordinate, review and drive the timely submission of Funding Papers and Claim Statements, ensuring alignment with funding requirements and organisational priorities. You will also monitor budget utilisation, analyse financial performance and explain key variances, helping to strengthen financial stewardship while contributing directly to the successful build-up of a new public healthcare institution.

The role offers meaningful exposure to strategic finance, cross-functional stakeholder engagement and a collaborative, purpose-driven work environment that supports professional growth.

Requirements

  • Degree in Accountancy, Finance or equivalent
  • Minimum 8 to 10 years of relevant working experience, preferably in a healthcare setting
  • Strong team player who is able to build and sustain relationships with diverse stakeholders in a dynamic and growing organisation
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a growth mindset and willingness to learn
  • Systematic, meticulous and comfortable working with details
  • Adaptable and confident in handling complex, ambiguous and challenging situations
