The Senior Executive, Cloud FinOps supports the management and optimization of cloud and technology-related expenditures across the organization. This role is responsible for assisting in cloud cost monitoring, billing analysis, forecasting, reporting, vendor administration, and financial governance activities across AWS, Microsoft, VMware, software subscriptions, and other technology services.

The ideal candidate possesses a combination of cloud operations knowledge, analytical skills, and financial awareness to support cost optimization initiatives and maintain cloud financial transparency. The role works closely with engineering, finance, procurement, and vendor partners to ensure accurate cost allocation, reporting, and governance.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Cloud Financial Operations & Governance

• Assist in monitoring and managing cloud services across IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, and marketplace consumption models.
• Support cloud cost optimization activities such as shutting down unused resources, optimizing storage, rightsizing services, and removing unused resources.
• Drive savings opportunities to engineering teams, technology leads, and executive stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate tagging compliance and cost allocation records across business units and environments.
• Monitor and reconcile monthly usage, cost centre allocations, and service tagging across environments (Dev, Test, Prod)
• Build and maintain billing dashboards and reports using Power BI, Microsoft Excel, or equivalent tools
• Prepare regular cloud financial reports, dashboards, and management summaries.
• Assist in identifying spending anomalies, unexpected cost increases, and optimization opportunities.

2. Infrastructure & Technical Foundation

• Apply foundational knowledge in infrastructure domains including server farms, networking, databases, and storage systems.
• Participate in cloud scaling strategies such as scheduled shutdowns, rightsizing, instance consolidation, and auto-scaling policies.
• Collaborate with Cloud Engineering, Architecture, and Software Engineering teams to optimize cloud deployments for cost efficiency, reliability, and operational effectiveness.
• Analyze cloud consumption trends and prepare recommendations for management review.

3. Strategic Sourcing & Vendor Engagement

• Assist in sourcing and procurement exercises, including RFI, RFQ, and RFP in close collaboration with finance and procurement teams to ensure optimal value and compliance.
• Support the lifecycle of enterprise agreements such as AWS EDP, VMWare ELA, Microsoft EA, etc

4. Cost Optimization & Commercial Strategy

• Assist in commercial opportunities including underutilized resources, rightsizing of compute and storage, and consolidation of software licenses and subscriptions.
• Assist in cloud spend efficiency and avoid unnecessary commitments through predictive modelling and usage analysis.
• Support cost management, automation, and cross department collaboration to deliver measurable savings.

Job Requirements:

• A Bachelor’s Degree, Post Graduate Diploma, or Professional Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in Cloud FinOps, Cloud Operation and software licenses & digital subscriptions (M365, Jira, Grafana, etc), with a focus on financial governance, cost optimization, and vendor management
• 3-5 years of experience in cloud operations and engineering, with a strong focus on Amazon Web Services (AWS).
• Experience with financial services industry or regulated environments is highly advantageous
• Exposure to budgeting, cost analysis, procurement, or vendor management activities is advantageous.
• Good understanding of cloud service models and pricing structures with strong focus on AWS.
• Exposure to Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, and cloud cost management practices.
• Hands-on experience with Power BI, Excel pivot modeling, or equivalent financial visualization tools
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Good understanding to sourcing/tender processes such as RFP/RFQ/RFI
• Experience with cloud engineering and automation and DevOps-related activities is an added advantage
• Knowledge of audit, compliance, and security requirements, with experience implementing controls and preventive measures to meet organizational standards.
• Good communication and stakeholder management skills.

Employment Details:

• Salary: Negotiable depending on experience and skillset

• Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week

Pay: RM9,000.00 - RM15,000.00 per month
