About the Role

Our client is a leading global commodity trading house with a strong energy focus and a presence in the world’s major trading hubs, including Singapore. In line with their expansion, they are looking for an experienced Accountant to join the Singapore finance team, taking ownership of supplier payments and driving process improvement across the function.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end supplier invoice processing and prepare regular payment batches
• Review and confirm payment requests with internal teams and banks, and resolve complex queries and escalations
• Perform AP reconciliations and support month-end close, including accruals
• Act as the point of cover and continuity for the team, and guide junior team members where needed
• Assist with periodic regulatory and statutory submissions
• Lead or support process improvement projects and other finance work as required

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree in accounting, finance or a related discipline (professional qualification a plus)
• Minimum 5 years of accounts payable or finance operations experience, ideally within a trading or multinational environment
• Strong working knowledge of an ERP system
• Advanced Excel skills
• Coding or scripting ability (Python preferred), with an interest in applying it to finance automation
