Job Description for Customs Solution Specialist

Working Hour: Monday to Friday 9:00AM to 6:30PM

Working Location: Subang Jaya

Key Responsibilities:

• · Develop and implement customs solutions for import and export operations, with specialization in either Sea Freight or Air Freight.
• · Analyze business and shipment requirements and translate them into practical customs clearance processes, SOPs and implementation plans.
• · Ensure customs procedures comply with Malaysian customs regulations, trade requirements and applicable import/export controls.
• · Provide customs advisory and operational support to internal teams, including Operations, Sales, Warehousing, Transportation and Supply Chain.
• · Manage and resolve customs-related issues, including shipment holds, declaration discrepancies, inspection queries, HS code classification, valuation and clearance delays.
• · Coordinate with Royal Malaysian Customs Department (RMCD / JKDM), MITI, MAQIS, SIRIM, port/airport authorities, customs brokers and freight forwarders when required.
• · Monitor customs clearance performance, identify operational gaps and drive continuous improvement in clearance efficiency, accuracy and cost effectiveness.
• · Support HS Code classification, customs valuation, country of origin, FTAs, duty exemptions and other customs duty/tax optimization initiatives.
• · Support customs-related system, digitalization and automation projects, including process enhancement and implementation of customs solutions.
• · Monitor regulatory changes, analyze potential business impact and provide recommendations to management to mitigate customs and trade compliance risks.

Requirements:

• · Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, Customs, Business Administration or a related discipline.
• · 4–7 years of relevant experience in customs, trade compliance, freight forwarding, logistics or supply chain.
• · Strong knowledge of Malaysian customs regulations, import/export procedures and trade compliance.
• · Relevant experience in either Sea Freight or Air Freight customs operations. Experience covering both is an added advantage.
• · Strong understanding of HS Code classification, customs valuation, country of origin, FTAs and duty/tax requirements.
• · Experience in customs solution design, process improvement, issue resolution or implementation projects will be an advantage.
• · Experience working with customs brokers, freight forwarders and relevant government authorities.
• · Strong analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.
• · Familiarity with customs systems such as uCustoms, SMK and Dagang Net will be an advantage.
• · Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia. Mandarin is an added advantage.
• · Willingness to travel to relevant seaports, airports, warehouses and operational sites when required.
